One further thought on this flask; fill it with Everclear or some other grain alcohol. I just saw it on another video, and it makes sense because it's multipurpose. It can be used for a topical antiseptic, fuel for a stove, a tincture if you do come across a medicinal plant to steep in it, or drunk as a painkiller for minor surgery (i.e. someone rips open their leg and has to get stitches). In some situations, it can even be used as emergency barter or to break the ice w/unfriendly locals.

A bugout bag, to me, must cover (in this order) - tools and self defense (cant do/access nothing without em) - water (a filter, straw, etc plus iodine, and bottles/bladders) - fire - first aid (my kit is complete, important to me) - warm clothing (footwear is very important, rain gears, etc) - food - shelter - communication/signal - orientation (waterproof paper maps, no battery stuff, compass, etc) His bag is very good. Mine is very different. We both cover all the checkboxes. Everybody has its own setup. Plus, this guy would survive with a pencil and kinder surprise, anyway.

How about a .22 firearm and ammo? A Henry AR7? Animal traps and fishing equipment? Cell phone and charger? Water purification tablets? A Berkey Sport bottle?
@moreston43667 жыл бұрын
Guns would eventually become useless as you would run out of ammunition, and they'd be in constant use meaning that unless you take extremely good care of them they'd become badly damaged and poor quality over time. Animal traps and fishing, I somewhat agree but you should also note, that if you're going to be doing any passive hunting/trapping you may as well make your own traps out of natural materials that are easy to find. Cell phones would be useless, electricity may not even work so charging wouldn't even work, you wouldn't have signal, it's just pointless. Agreed with the rest though.
@Afterburner6 жыл бұрын

fyi- teti allegedly killed 2 dogs, when the crew freaked out, he went out and brought back to their hotel, a cat, that was sliced up with a knife, tried to say the cat was attacked by the dogs and that's why he killed them. the cat died. teti then tried to force the crew to swear they wouldn't speak on it again and recorded it on his phone video- when they refused, he threatened to kill them and their families. that is why the snuck the crew to a new hotel, and out of bolivia without telling teti, then had security escort teti to the airport and put his mentally deranged butt on a plane, then discovery channel issued a "lock door and call police" order with teti's mug shots, left, right and front on the order. this order and the email issuing it was subpoenaed and proven fact. so, sorry, that is not how a hero acts nor is it how a hero is treated. discovery knows teti is a dangerous and unstable person that's why they fired him in the middle of a season, in the middle of an episode, used old footage to wrap that show, replaced teti with an emergency casting by discovery using french horwitz, who confirmed these facts with all the folks who were canidate replacements. i have the statements from them, from the folks on the ground in bolivia and from the crew before cody was wrongly fired. so, these things were going on before teti sued the special forces and was proven a liar, forger and fraud, they were going on when the hawke family got a protective order against teti for life and they went on right up until teti turned on discovery themselves. these facts are documented, so are other facts that teti had serious issues before discovery hired him and during each of the 5 times they renewed his contract and failed to due basic due diligence. so, yeah, i speak truth, i have the facts and the world is gonna see them in court and/or in a book- the truth will be known and shown so that others do not have to die in vain. discovery is still airing his shows, knowing he is a liar, fraud and menace to society, they commit stolen valor and false advertising every time they do, and they risk more lives both with his unqualified advice in his shows and with the potential for putting him back on the air if others continue to wrongly think he is legit. so, everytime i get attacked, i will post more and more truth and i will post it multiple times on the attacking thread- so the fakes can't delete my truth and continue to hide and i will share it on other posts so the truth will only grow with each attempt to attack and lie. (FRANK DUX is to thank for today's post- i have him blocked, so i don't see him, but the stupid person doesn't realize, i get a documented email each time he posts that allows me to save it for the authorities) DUX- i am a green beret and i will fight your lies forever. thunderbird is the word and it's word is TRUTH. and not even sure where that retarded comment from you matters? and grey as gandalf? you might consider checking your prescription, your meds are failing you... or inject some more and just go all rhoid-rage... eitherway, what a sad fool and stupid person you are. :-)

This is a good start but there is no need for bolt cutters or that humungous heat warmer. You could also save some space by putting your bleach in a smaller container and save some weight and space. I also would consider putting something other than a lighter in there for fire. Lighters can run out of fuel. They can also break. I would use a classic magnesium block. I would also have another way of carrying water like a bag or something.

That is the exact same type of bag I'd have. You don't need to be comfortable in a survival situation, only alive. The difference between getting hypothermia and getting warm could be gaining entry into a padlocked shed and boltcutters arent that heavy, especially when theyre in a rucksack. Why do you need an axe or a saw if you have a decent knife? The aim of "bugging out" is to remove yourself from immediate danger, He has food he can eat on the go. A poncho so he doesn't have to stop to build a shelter to stay dry. He doesnt have plasters because quite frankly, you don't need them, antisceptic wipes and some gorrilla tape will do the job. Your biggest enemy isnt injury, its illness. If you are injured, then you are injured. You can stabilise yourself. If you are ill (hypothermia, stomach problems) then you will slowly debilitate. You don't need a huge sleeping bag or thermal clothes; warm is dry, dry is warm. If you are dry you can make your own heat. If you are wet you cannot get warm.

I'm like you. Trapping is a big part of my bug out bag, as it allows you to divert attention and calories to other (more important) things. Not very sporting, but the advantages are obvious. I carry 2 conibears and 4 yo yo's. I can also conceal a Thompson Center handgun for hunting. Unlike most people, I look at a bug out bag in two ways: it's designed to get you to the location, but also ready to go full-blown wilderness survival mode if that location is compromised.

only problem with a crossbow is that they snag on just about everything when you are walking through the bush. Not dogging the crossbow though I love mine. Just make sure you keep it oiled and maintained. A catastrophic failure with a bow might leave you with a welt or two. Structural Failure with a crossbow could lead to some serious problems. Id love to have a takedown bow except my Ray Romano size nose throws off my aim. I hear Goal Zero Elite makes a great solar panel but do your research.

His stuff does look unused, but to be fair there isn't much in his bag that he needs to try or practice with. I think It would be a bit different if he was relying on tools that require skill to use. Either way, I'm not defending him, just putting in my two cents.

I am saying I was a lrrp and a scoutmaster in 1980s with the hundred and first airborne iTalk primitive survival techniques and I was Jungle expert qualified and you make your bug-out bag with according to the knowledge that you have the more knowledge you have the less equipment you feel the need for

I really would expect better out of a guy on dual survivor. Really discredits that show. Bag is full of one time one use junk.
@cwheels018 жыл бұрын
If you know anything about him, he doesn't want to do survival long term. The longer he spends camping, the more uncomfortable he gets. He wants to get from point A to point B as quickly and effectively as possible.

It's a good idea to have flex cuffs but I would keep them on the down low. It can send the wrong message and make you come into question or stand out. It's the kind of attention you do not want. Put them in your cargo pocket of an easily accesable pouch on your bag.

"eh eh .. I designed ... eh eh .. I designed . ". Talk about trying desperately to sell stuff with his name to be some kind of "quality brand". I would rather buy a Gerber knife than a Joe Teti and a Fjallraven bag over one designed by him any day.
@AlcesColotes657510 жыл бұрын
hell you can use a blanket duct taped together as a bag but that's not really the point of this video is it
@skiidzman8 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of different bug out bags. The main thing is that if you are making a bug out bag, you need to have a plan in mind for said bag and where you will go in the event of trouble. For me, I have a week long bag. Its tight knit, and literally has enough food for two for atleast a week. If I need to drive 9 hours to find my family and get forced off the road and have to walk it -- I've planned my bag for that scenario. You should each figure out what your own may be. There is no right or wrong bag, for all we know Paul in this video may only have to travel 1 day where he has hoards of food and supplies -- in which in his case his bag is fine.

98% of your items are useless for a bug out try common sense and get trained

+Minnesota Bushcraft you should know that with a name like Mn Bushcraft
@liamoshea85608 жыл бұрын
+Sterling Archer I did notice that as well, how ever his goal was clearly to keep his bag lightweight. Hand warmers are very useful and light sticks are handy to have on hand as well.
@sterlingmaloryarcher4208 жыл бұрын
+Minnesota Bushcraft well Mn Bushcraft I am also a minnesotan and I can tell you from common sense and experience that hand warmers are a waste of space in a bag intended for a bug out you get one use from it the same with glow Sticks, it's like only bringing one match when you're going to need to make multiple fire's

I do not know if it is because of the show, but they fired the wrong guy. Teti is a militant control freak. They paired him with Matt because he is passive and agrees with Joe. Teti is the type of guy that can get you hurt or killed because he thinks his way is the only way. Teti must have HATED taking orders in the military.

my bad for choosing the wrong word, but if you read the whole story about him, he never set foot in iraq or afghan while in the military. he was also in the reserves not active duty for any real amount of time like he says. just another person stealing valor for shit they did not do.
@RBat4Life10 жыл бұрын
not stepping foot in iraq or afghanistan dosent mean he has gone throught Selection or Q-course. and there are SF units in the NG. being a veteran myself not defending him. but he did in fact make it through the course and was infact tabbed SF

Also, I think the zip-tie cuffs are a good idea. It at least allows for the option to detain an aggressor, rather than respond with deadly force.
