To non drummers, this is a good drum solo. To drummers, this is really good drum solo. To drummers who grew up idolizing Neil, attempting to learn every single stroke of every song, forcing your mom and dad/brothers/sisters and friends to listen to his drum solos on your beat box and spending years and years playing along with Rush albums,.....this is a Smithsonian level drum solo. Neil created it and Joe friggin nailed it.

I didn't even know Joe played the drums, only knew him as the Zappa vaultist, and he turns out to be one of the best unknown drummers I have seen.

Similar story for me. I first saw ZPZ in 2006, and shortly after sent Gail Zappa a note asking her to please tell Joe he was my new favorite drummer I'd never heard of. I've been lucky enough to see him a few times since, and he blows me away every time. Check out the Mike Keneally Baked Potato DVDs.

He played with Dweezil on the Zappa Plays Zappa 1997 DVD and tour, Steve Vai and Terry Bozzio were guests. Joe is excellent playing Frank's music. You can see it on KZbin.

Dear Joe Travers, that was an AMAZING performance. Wonderful display of your skills and a beautiful tribute to Neil Peart. Thank you Joe! I know that made Neil proud

Amazing performance. 😮 The hours of practice and attention to detail do not go unnoticed. That was nothing short of brilliant.
