RIP, Neil Peart! I remember buying the "Fly by Night" 8-track in 1975! I was instantly blown away by this new, 22-year-old drummer! Neil was a true genius! To imagine the amount of grief he went through when he lost his daughter and wife within a year is heartbreaking! He hopped on his motorcycle and began his healing process. 58,000 miles later, he was ready to get behind his kit once again. Neil was a selfless gift to all of us for so long. Thank you God!

I was on a computer at the library the day I learned he had passed. I saw the ‘Remembering Neil Peart…’ headline and couldn’t believe what I had just looked at. I felt my whole body just kinda sink. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever forget that day. Today I was talking to a lady I met at work. She’s our librarian at the facility, and we started talking about Rush. She said she cried for days after Neil had died. It must be so touching to imagine that you can have such an impact on people you’ve never met in your life. And that goes for Alex and Geddy too. It must be what greatness is. Neil, you will always be missed and loved.

Walking backstage after Uriah Heep played turning to my right side and seeing Neil's slingerland concert Tom's sitting, waiting to be carried on stage by his tech. At that moment I was within reach of tapping on his concert Tom's! A big roadie looked at me and I didn't touch the professor's drums. A few seconds later they were carried away to center stage. Great compilation. Thanks for putting it together. The first time I saw Rush play, Neil hit one of those little cymbals, like the one at 12:26, (I don't remember the song, it was on the New World Tour in 1983) with a good deal more energy than you see at 12:26, and it flew off the kit toward the Geddy side like a little frisbee. Also - regarding Neil's comment about Bob Dylan's quote and the goal of the artist being to inspire....mission accomplished, Neil. Mission accomplished.

Man that last clip almost brought me to tears... The one and only time Neil took a bow and stayed on stage was at Rush's very last venue at their very last concert ever Hope the Professor is looking down on us young drummers that were inspired by him with a smile

What a remarkable fellow who accomplished so much! I never tire of listening to his lyrics, they seem to reveal more as the decades pass. And his drumming... Don't even start with that discussion. RIP Professor!

I'm guessing that big band swing was his homage to Buddy Rich, Mr Peart you were a class act.

January 7 2020 was when I heard he passed on. Hit me harder than my grandparents or anyone else I actually knew. I now know how my mom felt when Elvis died. I hope Geddy and Alex know that they are not alone in their grief. I'm still bummed out.

The shy, dark master. Oh how his proficiency terrorized me in high school as I tried to learn a reasonable facsimile of his drumming.

God gifted us with his talent, but needed him back. We were lucky to have been touched by his spirit in our lifetimes and can only hope for his heavenly beats to be rockin throughout the fathers domain! Great tribute, Thank you for sharing it!

Awww.. love seeing all these clips, but it makes me sad AND happy to be been so moved by his playing all these years. From when I first heard The Spirit of Radio as a 13 year old just starting out on drums to recently covering Tom Sawyer and The Spirit of Radio in separate collaboration videos, my mind was constantly thinking of Mr Peart and his influence on me as a drummer. Thank you x
