This is a film that tried to keep great comedy-romance alive at a time when action was king. This track and the selection of the various artists made this gem shine brighter.

One of the loveliest songs I have ever heard. Its simplicity and yearning transported me.

Marooned Without You Lyrics: John Patrick Shanley - Music:Georges Delerue. Why is my heart marooned without you? The sun goes down - My dreams begin their refrain. I call to whatever holds you, My beloved. I wait and I wait. Why is my heart marooned without you? A tiny light upon the sea - My heart is so afraid You have broken away. Tell me, darling, I pray You will come to me soon.

is a silly film unless it is viewed from the lens of a fairy tale and from that perspective it's a total charmer. The chemistry between hanks and Ryan was inspired and the sound score is magical.

Roger H Werner it is a fairy tale. The hairdresser says so - that Joe looks like a prince in a fairy tale. She’s like a sorceress and from that moment on the fairy tale element takes over.

@Michelangelo Flores yeah, Carol Kane. Although for this film she chose to be credited as Lisa LeBlanc for some reason.

And Hanks & Ryan always had great chemistry in the 3 movies they did together.

Music is a big bonus in the film. I used to play the end over and over on VHS.

This is one of my favorite fantasy love stories, and the score is beautiful. What I can't figure out, is the origin of the very simple instrumental piece that's incorporated into this song, beginning at about 3:00. Dad used to sing something similar, from his childhood in the WW1 era. Of course I can't remember the words that he sang, only the melody.

It seems to be based on Bach's Minuet in G major, BWV Anh. 114". Also used in the movie 'Electric Dreams' for the duel between the computer and the girl playing the cello - a wonderful piece of music..

Georges Delaroux(?) Music. French composer, I think. I loved it too.

I wonder which came first, the lyrics or the music?
@cynthiarowley7194 жыл бұрын
I bet the score came first, then director wrote some lyrics, but it's a good question.

So, it's a sad comedy by Amblin Entertainment who didn't make money for The Flintstones before they made Ready Player One
