Same here I was about 10 when this came out it was a anthem for me as well. I remember hearing it and thinking this is the greatest song not to mention ELO and a bunch others. *Sniiiiiiff* Ahhhhh...The smell of Coppertone suntan lotion, motorcycle fumes, Bondo, and BBQ chicken. It's June, 1978 in Detroit and this song is on rotation on the local WLLZ FM station. It's blaring on my Dad's Panasonic cassette radio. He and his buddies are working on their motorcycles and cars in the street, laughing and drinking. The occasional smell of strong weed pierces through the hot wind. Me and my brothers along with friends from around the neighborhood are taking turns jumping off the porch into the Doughboy swimming pool. It's summer and about 97 degrees outside. After that we play a game or two of Jarts. My new Huffy bicycle stands at attention on it's kickstand, shining in the sun. It's chrome reflecting the deep blue sky. What a time it was to be alive. I miss you dad.

@sub0rLai9 ай бұрын
Takes me back to '78 too. On my first summer job, 6$ an hour. Three summers later I bought a 2500sq ft. house and met a Christian girl that never even spoke to another man before, and married her the very next year. Supported her and our 2 kids on just one salary while she watched the children. Just sold the house a month ago for 2.6 million dollars and my mom just passed so I got her home which was already payed off. God damn, I had life hard as hell. I really wish my kids knew how much harder it was back then, I wish they would work harder, they own no homes and have no wife or children yet, try to tell me they live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford food. I told them, find help somewhere else! That's what I had to do! My mother never left me anything. These kids have it way too easy and I get worked up. But then, I listen to this song and it takes me all back.

This hit from Joe Walsh went to #12 on the Top 40 charts and to #6 on the Cash Box charts. It went to #11 in Canada, #13 in Ireland, #14 in the United Kingdom, and to #32 in New Zealand. This came out as a solo hit during his time with The Eagles. In a special edition of Rolling Stone magazine's tribute to The Eagles, this hit made the Beyond the Eagles list, along with Rocky Mountain Way and Funk #49 when he was with The James Gang. I saw The Eagles in May 2003 at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC. They performed this.

The last time I saw the Eagles was 2009 in Auburn hills and it was still one of the best shows the Eagles had even as good as 1980 in Detroit and in 2000 in Chicago. This band is the best American country/rock band ever and no one has come close to a pure non theatrical performance I have ever seen. No special stage props ,fancy lighting and just pure music
@biggestjoewalshfan2 жыл бұрын
The 1980 stage antics of Glenn and Don Felder is one of the most entertaining side shows ever. I wonder who won that one? I would really like to know why Glenn said no more Eagles and Don Henley said that the Eagles would get back together when hell freezes over. I'm sure glad hell finally froze over in 1994!
