Joe White's 1960 Kenworth cabover 62 years young, still rolling

Retired owner-operator Joe White, who operated out of California for much of his 40-plus year career, bought this classic 1960 KW in 1970 when he was 19 years old. He ran it himself for 30 years until he retired it around the turn of the century. Today, he drives it to various truck shows, including the 2022 Mayberry Truck Show, where Overdrive video editor Lawson Rudisill caught up with White for this video.

Even kept the Spicer 5x4 after roadrangers were common. He's hard-core. I had that in my 1964 Pete and was very glad to upgrade.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 It’s wonderful to know the history on this amazing cabover beauty! Cabovers Rule! Love the signal lights on the front & the lounger skirting on the sides! It has earned some rest with over 4 million miles on it. Would love to see more of this rig! It sure is rather long for that era. Was it ever stretched? Cool stuff! 🤩🥰✌️

Back in the day when the length limit was shorter & the weight limit was lighter in the USA🇺🇸, whenever you heard or saw the word "semi", a cabover was what you thought of. Cabovers were real common back in those days. What killed the need for them was when the length & weight laws changed which are why you don't see many of them on the roads anymore. Today the USA🇺🇸 is one of a small number of countries that only has a small number of cabovers left.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 My dad bought a new K100 in 1970. It cost about $37K. I bet it was in the upper $20s. It is one cool cabover! Love this era with the longer skirting on the sides. Have a good one my friend.🤩🥰✌️
