What a great presentation of a time gone by, I don't mean Mr. White will be leaving us anytime soon but his man did all his own work, for the most part. This is very rare these days and let us not forget, this man drove the same rig for 30+ years! He did not go out and buy a new one every 3 years like they suggest today. This time period when men, and woman, worked for a living, not just drove a truck. God bless Mr. White

Badass ole kwooper what a distinct look. I think I remember seeing it around the steel houses around Emeryville , west Oakland Ryerson and Jorgensen and Pacific Pipe. That wheelbase must of got a lot of extra loads of rebar, pipe and trusses and such. Even if It doesn't work anymore glad to see it gets out to run once in a while. A true piece of California history. I used to work for Moore truck lines.

Last truck I drove commercially was a 1970 KW Cab Over. It sold on to a new owner for $10K two years ago. Cali will let you drive it. Either limited time/miles, or swap in a Tier III or IV engine.

@bryanmoffett19175 жыл бұрын
turbo14..pretty sure he replaced the engine at some point, said the motor has a million plus on it, truck has 4 million. You are correct, in 1960 there was no big cam 400.
@cindytepper88785 жыл бұрын
@@bryanmoffett1917 In 1960 there was no Big Cam anything. Big Cam came along about the time they started building 350s. The increased amount of fuel being injected was hard on the cam's injector lobes and cam bearings

Some things don't sound d right,it was parked in 1999 cause California won't let him run it? The carb regs didn't hit till years later and he says it's factory specs but the wheelbase is really long especially considering being made in 1960 as tight as the overall length where back then
@killthebums5 жыл бұрын
True but maybe it started out as a flat bed and got converted to run trailers in the late 60's
@bradleypoehler96095 жыл бұрын
I'm not criticizing him but I agree...... also the 400 Cummins didn't come out till the early 70s
@georgerenton9655 жыл бұрын
Back in the day west coast cabovers where common with long wheelbase like that. It was required for the state bridge formula to spread the weight out. Lots had drom decks, or boxes mounted behind the cab. He said he bought it with a million miles on it, so the original engine would have been upgraded to the 400 prior to that. NTA 400 's came out in the late 60's. They where recognizable by their remote mount water pump and crazy coolant plumbing. They never had this model of cab in Canada as far as I know. We had the 523 " Canadian " Kenworth. I recall seeing one of there when I was unloading meat in Beloit WI. in the 70's. They whole truck belonged in a junkyard, but given the old broke down cowboy diving it with his dirty old dog, and 40ft reefer the whole thing just deserved to have its place in the sun. It had a Cummins NT 260 pancake engine. ( turned on its side mounted below the chassis, back behind the cab. This tells me the truck may have originally been spect with a drom box. The engine had chains belly rapped around the engine ! I suspect the engine mounts where worn out, and he didn't trust them. I can't imagine this truck having crossed a scale in years.
