Don’t blame the manufacturers. Blame your politicians. Manufacturers have to sell 25% or so of their EU production as EV, and are losing a fortune on those as they have to practically give them away at way below cost-price in order to sell them. To avoid going bust very quickly, they’re having to dramatically up the profit margin on the 75% of production that’s still ICE. This issue is going to get worse and worse as the % of EV sales has to increase by law every year.

But for me, it just meant the car was dull as ditchwater, as was my B7 RS4. Bought a brand new S3 Vorsprung when the facelift came out. It didn't work properly when I picked it up and still doesn't work properly now. Audi have admitted to me in writing that they were aware of severe software issues before they even sold them, but chose to carry on selling them anyway. It was my 4th new Audi in the last 3 years and will be the last car I ever buy from them. Going back to Mercedes, they might not look as good but they work and for the price of cars nowadays, it's entirely reasonable to expect them to work properly.

2006 A4 3.2 V6 Quattro owner - very happy with the B7 styling and 2nd hand price. New chain and cylinder head at appox 140,000 miles - otherwise drives perfectly.... £70K !!

How much 😮 and the full fat RS4 avant is better value, confused as to what Audi was thinking here

Still a way to go for VAG to compare their Audi brand with BMW.

Looking forward to the RS5, then the facelift when they fix the badges and buttons.

I didn't know it was THAT heavy, and...same price as the current RS4? Madness. Looks good though.

Cabin space is not the reason why Audi is putting the engines so much forward on the front axle. The Quatro 4wd does not use a front transfer case. Instead, the driveshafts come right out of the gearbox and connect the front wheels. This means that the Quatro gearbox needs to be somewhere on the front axle, and the engine sits forward.

😂😂 They use this configuration for pendulum effect buddy. Is not the only car doing that. Most of cars use this effect. 😂😂😂 people are still dumb even after 100 years of Audi. Just incredible

Your fellow KZbinr RBR was impressed with the steering in the new S5 Avant mentioning it is a lot more responsive ? I dont know which of you tested the car first but maybe this has already been adjusted ?

The overdrive feeling is probably the intelligent coasting? Turned this feature off in my current S4

Awesome review. Not too sure about the car though. Exterior is growing on me, interior is the opposite. Joe can you elaborate. Has Audi moved away from having the wide map screen behind the steering wheel to just having it on the MMI on the dash? If so that would, believe or not, be an instant deal breaker for me.

Correction, the change of engine labels from 2.0 TFSI to 45 TFSI was for the Chinese Market. The Chinese don't like small numbers. I was told this by several AUDI salesmen

I suspect there will be a cheaper 'base' S5 coming. These are Edition 1 cars, so fully loaded as Joe mentioned.
