The Part of the Show about Mel meandering around topics, intentionally misunderstanding black men & ducking accountability kept it 💯 and the fact that Mel got triggered shows how delusional she really is & her lack of self-awareness. In the Katt topic the guys were explaining how Hollywood emasculates black men & she immediately brings up white actors & black women, completely undermining the main issue. Then the very next topic discussing Epstein Island she caped for Beyoncé & others saying they weren't directly involved, but had the opposite energy for Cam & Mase? Smh funny thing is they all wanted to agree with the part of the show chick (especially Ish) but they had to cape for their "sister" 🤷🏿♂️

It's gender wars on the pod. I don't need Mel to fall in line with my point of view if I'm Joe. They need to get past trying to trap her into saying certain things and being unhappy if she has her own point of view. It's cringy to almost see him force his opinion or views onto her. Do we really want all of them to think exactly alike? I, we, they may not agree with her approach, but ok you're smarter than most and that's where your mind took you, disagree, but no need to try to coax someone into what you wanna hear imo
@CeeP21111 ай бұрын

@@ApoetsPoet I don't know if it's coaxing when you have a person in mel that is able to wax poetic when she wants but when it's something that involves where a woman could be at fault then the meandering begins, there isn't the same level of nuance when it comes to men and that's what joe and crew highlights at time

I’ve noticed that hot topics (like black men in dresses) they tend to throw it in Mel’s lap. What I like about Mel is her opinion is different and it pushes the conversation. They do it to Ish too. 3:08:45 Mel’s immediate reaction to a female asking the MEN (not her) a completely fair question about her, with mad respect and deference to her place on the pod, is EXACTLY why the question was asked and people don’t like her and think she has MILES to grow in maturity. As a fellow female day-one listener, the viewer took the words right out of my mouth. To be almost 50 years old, pride yourself on being well read and worldly, yet you cannot sit down and let other people ask a question about some of the things that bother everyone about you on a podcast that you admitted during your interview with Angie that you were not prepared to join proves everyone’s point. I don't think that Mel has the historical chops for the black man dress conversation. Lets not forget that she isn't American, she's canadian. While she is a black woman working in hollywood, I doubt that as an outsider-a canadian-she has the american historical context necessary to correctly identify when something is systemic or not. In this case, the black male in a dress being a systemic entertainment issue not just a choice that individual actors/comedians make. While some actors make the conscious decision to put on the dress, the greater majority understands it as "put on the dress, or be underpaid/under recognized". The consistent issue of figures being exiled/ outcast because they refuse to cater to a certain audience is not entirely exclusive to a single gender, however in this case, it absolutely is an issue faced by Black men and requires a basic understanding of black american hollywood history to understand.

If you’re wondering why this interview has gone insanely viral, ranking among the top 3 podcast interviews ever, let me break it down. Think of it as akin to the Avengers Infinity Saga. Its success mirrors the culmination of all the build-ups from previous movies, starting from the Iron Man series through Avengers: Infinity War. Thing is, we (including Shannon) had no clue these vids were building up such hype. Shannon even tried to get Katt on the show over a year ago (thankfully, it didn’t happen then). Everyone else was laying the groundwork with their interviews, setting the stage. Then, boom! Katt comes in, almost like Thanos snapping fingers, tying it all together. Plus, Katt’s got that charm, speaks his mind, sticks to his agenda, and he’s hilarious. That’s why this thing blew up!

People do not understand what Katt meant about the dress thing. The dresses symbolize that these people have agreed to do anything they are asked to do so they can get ahead in their careers without giving any pushback.I am a woman but I also understood exactly what Katt meant so I do not understand how Melissa did not get it.
@shebealchemy11 ай бұрын
She was simply saying there are white men in the industry who also have to put on the dress to get ahead, just because they are white doesn’t mean the powerful men at the studios don’t also want to emasculate them, they just aren’t going to complain like black men.

Melissa Ford I would like you to research and do your homework on the situation. A little more, the dress can really be connected. As far back as to slavery, it's almost what they did to demasculate the strong ones in front of the village. Certain practices have just continued through the years. That doesn't make them right and of course, the good old boys loves the minstrel show. So who cares if they approve of it? So long story the ones that had a wear dress even though they wore it. Believe me when I tell you. Most of them had to be coworked into the situation. Most of them didn't freely wear the dress. It was a pivocal point.

Hate the way Joe just cuts people off when it doesn’t add to his point. Mel made a good point about it being white people humour, I know many white people that would find dressing up like a woman funny & the only black film that they’ve seen is ‘White Chicks’ I do think that it could be true about it emasculating Black men but I think you’ll find that us as black people are quite homophobic hence why they all still say “pause” well into their 40s, so anything that hints at homosexuality like wearing a dress is just something black people don’t do

I would love for Joe to explain what he feels Mel brings to the podcast, if he hasn’t already, outside of her just being a beautiful face with a name. It feels like she’s always so stuck on what it is to be a “woman” that it gets in the way of her providing any valuable perspective on a lot of the topics.
@ashleighr539511 ай бұрын
I'm cool with it being a dude pod. If anything she needs the pod more than we need her on it cuz she seems very clueless and tone deaf on a lot of topics (about men and not) and I don't think she's always jus podding so they school her and it seems very necessary
@crosbywill11 ай бұрын
@@ashleighr5395 I couldn’t agree with you more. I definitely think a woman’s perspective is necessary. She just isn’t the right fit. I would’ve thought, given her experiences, that she would be able to provide more insight and perspective. But you hit the nail on the head when you said “tone deaf.”
