Drake is the only one that took it personal, again another notch in not understanding the culture. Drake then went on to throw subliminals over the next decade while Kendrick also threw subs while saying “Say my name and I’ll appear.” Drake never said his name directly. Then comes “First Person Shooter” where Drake asked for a Kendrick feature that he denied “Surprised when you sent that feature request. You know we got some shit ti address.” Then FPS comes out and Drake & Cole allude to be the only 2 at the top which leads to “Like That.” Kendrick has always wanted the smoke as an MC but Drake’s mistake was asking to make this a sewer fight. @originalstorm6272 whats crazy is that for a long time, the westcoasts downfall was its disloyalty to eachother. The culture of LA taught rappers to be divided. And that shit spread like a plague. 2pac v Ice Cube, Eazy v Dre, Game vs Rass Kass, Mc Eiht v Quik, Death Row vs other underground westcoast rappers. Nobody had Pacs back during his beef with the eastcoast. But YG, Nip, Schoolboyq, TDE, Tyler Creator and his crew are all close in friendship. This new generation of westcoast rappers learned from the past. They a tight knight group. And Kendrick got LA producers providing the backdrop too (alchemist, Mustard etc.) Its a beautiful energy the westcoast providing rn

Kendrick Lamar is a Pulitzer Prize winner, and the first and only rapper to do so when it was only awarded to classical/ jazz musicians and/or composers. This award a'int a BET, AMA, Grammy, or Oscar award. It is one award, per year, and one reserved for music. Not even Michael, Jackson, Witney, Prince, or so many other legends ever got the award. Drake was having so much fun on Taylor Made with the “Nah nah nah you following through”. Then when Kendrick came out and cooked him now all of a sudden Drake “doesn’t wanna diss him” anymore. Another of Drake's mistakes is that he didn't understand how to win over the audience. Kendrick already had the culture on his side but he galvanized them through the tracks/lyrics and made Drake seem like an outsider. Drake didn't attempt to write his own narrative on how he is part of the culture and how he's also helped hip-hop
@Born_A_Star6 ай бұрын
He is clearly not part of the culture since the thinks dot raps like he is trying to free the slaves. And yes kdot raps to us black people more.

Drake didn't make a mistake. He did not have the skills and imagination to compete with Kendrick. Kendrick is just on another level and people refuse to acknowledge that he is the GOAT. They speak glowingly of Kendrick's abilities and creativity without making that final step or conclusion.

The thing that gets me is how every little part of Kendrick's songs have some meaning to them. The titles, the cover art, the choice of producers, the samples, everything. And when he gets all of those things working together to deconstruct Drake, it's beautiful. Those tracks weren't disses, they were dissections.

I don't know why anyone would think Kendrick takes long to write if you actually viewed interviews with those close to him. Schoolboy Q told us that Kendrick is always in the studio writing and recording, he just doesn't put the music out if it doesn't serve a purpose or a message. All of Kendricks albums are fullfledge stories with the intent to spark growth within the listeners.

Aubrey is not on Kendrick’s level. Period. Have some respect for hip hop as an art. Them pop toons and lullabies ain’t hip hop. Cosplaying an American gangster we could let slide if you grew up seeing gangsters like that in your environment but nahhh not in Toronto ..well at least not where Aubrey grew up. Kendrick has the flow, the lyricism, the story telling, the authenticity, a multitude of subject matters, and the God given gift of expressing himself in such thought provoking ways. The man is not manufactured. To talk down Kendrick is to talk down hip hop.

Taylor Made was the biggest mistake. Using AI Pac in a song was so wack that he nearly lost the battle himself without Kendrick having to do anything, and it had the unintended consequence of unifying the West Coast (and much of the US that loves Pac) against him. Terrible move.

Drake's master plan didn't anticipate Cole removing himself from the board. He expected Dot & Cole to demolish each other, allowing Drake to assert dominance in the end. Cole's removal was the biggest move in the beef. No longer a zone defense for Drake, it's man to man.

7:20 That's 1,000% nail on the head. "I'm allergic to the lame shit, only you like bein' famous". Drake relied on his fame and Social Media presence to carry him to victory. He attempted to force Kendricks hand by saying that he has a week to respond and Social Media acted accordingly. Drake had been backpedaling ever since "Euphoria" came out and "Not Like Us" was the nail in the coffin. Drake has never been nor ever will be a "Rapper". He is an entertainer at best and whatever accolades you want to associate with that is fine. Those who side with Kendrick and still call Drake a rapper are missing the point of the whole beef.
