For what it's worth, I've been seeing a lot of roofing crews that use the 2520. Down here in South Florida they beat the crap out of all their equipment. If the 2520 can survive on a roofing crew, I'm sure it will be more than adequate for a homeowner or even for commercial use.

Yes, I own both & I can't tell the difference. I use them in my lawn care. I grab the handheld blowers B4 I grab my gas guzzlers Redmax/ Husqvarna backpack blowers for grass trimmings

Thanks for sharing i have the pb2520 i have had it for 2 years im a commercial landscaper i have back packs i use the hand held just to help out my guys to blow i use it pretty much daily and no issues what so ever great little blowers both will last for ever.

@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC Oh yes specially here in Miami our echo Trimmers and blowers outlast Stihl 4mix Trimmers and blowers i switched to all echos in my company and i have saved thousands of dollars in not having to replace Trimmers and blowers every 2 years is the most i was able to get out of Stihls they are throw away after 2 years up north yes they last longer cause they don't get used all year around like we do here in Miami we are none stop all year long and echos also withstand heat much better then Stihls.

I have a 11 year old PB-250 with over 1000 hours and it still runs mike on day one. That was the bottom end of their scale home owner model and cost me $150 back then. I just exchanged the tank hoses as they were getting hard and started weeping. It still runs with the original spark plug. I do exclusively used Red Armor oil and swear by it. OHHH AND ECHO GUTTER KITS COME WITH PIPE ADAPTERS THAT WORK WITH BOT, THE OLDER SMALLER BLOWER PIPE AND THE NEWER BIGGER PIPE ON THEWE MODELS!! Echo is simply amazing

I went with the 2520 simply because it was all they had in stock at the time. I quite like it, I started using echo equipment a while ago with my SRM-225 trimmer which I love. The quality difference between these and the MTD junk is amazing, even though it doesn't cost too much more. As far as the blower goes, it works great! It is a lot lighter to carry than the cheap MTD junk is, but it feels more solid (if that makes sense.) It is also very smooth; I was cleaning the carb on a friend's bolens blower, and I honestly forgot how much those cheap blowers vibrate. I have around an acre of land, but half of it is woods, so about .5 acre to blow leaves on; and the 2520 does a great job at it, and I have no doubt it will last a good while.

Yeah I still use my 2620 regularly and love it! Only downside is you have to be careful when drying a car with it to not allow the metal tip to contact the car paint

The 2620 is a commercial small blower I have the 2620t weed trimmer and this 2620 blower and you will feel the difference between the 2!

Now at the end of September 2023, the Echo PB 2520 is about $169.00 and the Echo PB 2620 is about $250.00 for quite similar products, the real option is the Echo PB 2520. At Home Depot.

I was really surprised at how “professional” the engine runs in the 2520. It has a strong POP to it when idling, kinda like a pro grade chainsaw such as the Husky 372 or a Stihl 440. Two of the most famous pro saws ever made. Weird comparison, I know….but the engine Echo put in the 2520 has some balls to it for sure. You can tell even at idle is what I am getting at. Anyways, it makes me happy to run it. I hate running equipment that feels choked up or weak feeling.

Nice job on the video. I have the PB-2620, it seems to run a little rough until it warms up after 5 minutes or so, would have any idea why it does this. I have heard this from other owners of these two blowers also. It has done this since it came out of the box. After it is warm, it runs like an absolute champ.

Yes, I found one of their sites that shows a lot of different clips demonstrating different product's features. They have a forty second video of a running blower. It starts with a small drawing overlay of the curved tube with arrows in opposite directions to illustrate air direction. It then has some captions that go into its purpose. "Echo's rotational control delivers a pull away from the operator to counter the gyro effect, with no loss of blowing force." They then show a bird's eye view of a blower tethered from above and running. With a straight pipe it rotates counterclockwise. With the rotational control design pipe, it doesn't spin. It then states: "Echo's rotational control makes the blower easier to handle and reduces stress on the operator's arm." I've been using Echo blowers at work for many years and they all do the dance if left alone idling on a smooth surface like Joe shows. Echo's videos are running them at high speed.

Seems the 2620 is no longer available. The X series are now on the market. For the homeowner like myself (have an 8 year old Echo straight shaft trimmer) still going strong it looks like the 2520 will do the deed adequately. Anything is better than raking as ones body gets older. Neighbor came over with a big Stihl backpack and helped me out. That convinced me to look into a cost effective solution. I do have DeWalt tools and the leaf blower was a consideration BUT the power seemed lacking compared to this gasser for a LOT less. Thanks for the review. Cheers.

Yes and the larger and higher quality air filtration system. For occasional home use, it probably doesn't make a great deal of difference though

Just wondering if you had a chance to take a closer look at the Echo Yardshield attachment for the 2520. My Yardshield came with a 3 inch OD adapter to fit a 3 inch ID adapter at the blower housing. Do you happen know the 2520 housing ID ? Maybe it will fit.

Yeah it's all my long list of things to do. I have the yard shield sitting in my shed and with the weather getting warmer and it becoming mosquito season it's probably time to take a look at that 🙂

I dropped my 2520 off a roof and broke the gas tank and fan assembly. Do you think that part from a 2620 would fit the 2520? ECHO E103001462 is the exact part number I need but the fan gas tank assembly for the 2620 is cheaper. 😅

I can't say for sure, sorry. I do know the gas tank on the 2620 is larger though.

Hello, I actually purchased an Echo PB-2620 after watching your video. I had an Echo ES-250 that only lasted about 4 years. The cylinder was scored, I think the carburetor leaned out too much, which I did not realize it only had 60 pounds of compression. I plan on putting. A short block in it and get it running again. I don't have one in front of me at the moment but it isn't terribly relevant when it comes to expected life. It could last significantly longer if cared for, or die early if not cared for properly. Bottom line, I wouldn't focus on this number too much - the 2520 and 2620 are both quality units that will last the average homeowner a lifetime if cared for properly.

I haven't had to adjust the carburetor on either one as I am pretty close to sea level. Are you finding that you're needing to adjust the carburetor because of high altitude?

all the RB type carbs have a anti tamper plug so you can't get to the screw for high speed. but you can take it out with a reverse drill bit easy.

The one thing you didn't mention is the weight difference. Its almost a pound and when you are using one a lot it makes a difference. also says the 2520 is the most powerful handheld blower they make. and also they say it is the lightest of all comercial brands and I did look at specs and it is even more powerful and lighter than the stihl bg86. the 50 extra would be worth it if it wasn't so heavy like the 251. and the curved tube does have an advantage.

When the PB2620 first came out 4-5yrs ago Echo said they added a ballast weight inside the rubber handle for better balance and less wrist fatigue. I believe that is the only reason for the increased weight. I have not seen that mentioned anywhere in 3-4years.

Probably not that much, no, unless you will be using a commercially day in and day out. If you are, I think the better air filtration system and that second piston ring will add to the longevity. For what it's worth, I just bought my mom the 2520. More than enough for the average homeowner.

I might add that the emission compliance duration for the PB-2520 is 50 hours whereas the emission compliance duration for the PB-2620 is 300 hours. Most people don't even look at the emission compliance duration. The period is the time in hours to which the engines life expectancy is with proper maintenance. Big difference in engine life!

Not quite. It is the amount of time the engine is expected to be in compliance with applicable emissions regulations. The engine may last far longer than that. Can certainly use it as a barometer to gauge relative quality from engine to engine though.
