A great explanation on the sometimes confusing numbering systems used for carving tools. It helps explain why a #3 5mm chisel has a different contour than a #3 10mm or why two different numbers might match the same radius but have different degrees of arc.

Joe thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge with us. I enjoy watching you. I want to make an mdf wheel to sharpen. Having trouble making one myself very little use of my left arm. First try cutting with a jig saw didn't work too good. After gluing so out of round I couldn't turn it. But thanks.
