Nice sound! I do actually think to myself "I love the 5 liter in my lr4"... but then I realize I am old AF and I enjoy it being quite. I generally like quite exhaust (in my car also) because I can drive it harder without attracting attention on the roads. Plus long road trips, which is 90%+ of the miles on my LR4, it helps reduce fatigue if things are quite.
@LostCauseRanch3 жыл бұрын
I would probably leave the front resonator in if I were to do it again, the only time the noise isn’t completely ideal to me is under heavy engine braking, mainly in a low range/steep downhill situation. I will agree that quiet is nice on long trips though. It isn’t loud enough to disrupt any conversations while driving though so that is nice.

Remove the x pipe and switch it to a 3" single in the center that runs for a couple feet. Then back out to the duals - the tone will be more exotic that way because the firing order if I'm not mistaken

Might be worth trying at some point to see what it does, I’ve never done one with a long single section going back to duals before.
@DominikStone7272 жыл бұрын
What size pipe would you go to for the duals? Stock or something else?
@robertcossey93752 жыл бұрын
@@DominikStone727 @Nik Parks actually I take back the 3" center pipe and I would put a 4" OD in the center (to keep the original pressure correct being the factory size is 2" OD). It's really preference from there - just as long as you keep the factory spec sizing.
@DominikStone7272 жыл бұрын
@Robert Cossey , what if I left the 1st resonator? Would the pressure still be effected? Then go back to either 2.25" pipes, 2.75" or 3" pipes. I'm sure pressure is affected either way? What would be the differences? Trying to reason out the best solution for my RRS. Thanks for your responses, this noob appreciates them!
@kimkleiner8456 Жыл бұрын
@@robertcossey9375 Don't know much about back pressure but if you assumed cross section of 2 pipes of 2" diameter = 1 pipe of 4" you're mistaken. Cross section = pie( pick a flavor)x radius squared so 3.14"x two pipes=6.28" . 4" pipe 3.14x2 squared= 12.56 square inches. Double the cross section!

I have a 2011 LR4 HSE, picked up the X pipe you linked to Amazon and took it down to my local Midas for an estimate. They wanted between 7 and 8 hundred to do the job. Should have seen the look on my face . I just walked out of course. Went by Parker 4X4 who mainly work on Jeeps but I know they work on exhausts as well and they wanted more at a higher hourly rate for 2 to 3 hours of work! What? This should be roughly an hour to 2 hours max. I've seen another KZbin video only take 30 minutes to do this work. It's not that easy finding an old school repair shop these days that will do the work for a couple hundred as it's not that big of a mod. Still searching for another shop.
