Hi Joe- You know the real genius of a design is to keep it as simple and bulletproof as possible. That hood light seems over complicated to me. It’s great you were able to fix it and troubleshoot the problem but The old Mercury switches were so much easier. I guess Mercury was getting into the water so they looked for alternatives. Great stuff! 😃👍

The older versions from the 60s used a mercury switch 😮👍🏻

My 95 F150 uses a mercury switch. Much more reliable and easy as pie to fix if it does begin to work improperly.

Where is the fuse to that bulb located? I have no power in the circuit that feeds that switch assembly.

I Google it and my best guess is that it is hooked to the cab light. Which is in the under hood fuse panel marked "crtsy lmp". I hope that helps. Cheers

I ordered it off amazon...sorry i tried to find the part number, but i have ordered too many cheap auto led bulbs in my amazon purchase history to tell which one it was.

Some old cars had a retractable hood light. My automotive instructor, in high school, told us a story about using the retractable hood light as a tag light, in order to get out of a ticket...it must have been a short car. Cheers
