Works like a charm! Have to open the hood somewhat aggressively but the light comes on now!!! I also replaced the broken ground strap to the hood while I was under there. Thanks for the tip. 😊

Thanks Scott. You saved me $50. Cleaned up all the contacts and works like new. A tip for those having a problem getting this apart use a mini screwdriver set.

Thank you so much for your kindly, well description of the light to clean it. I had a problem with it for years (hitting the light each time to get it working). Now after cleaning outside and inside, cleaning the contacts with Q-tip and alcohol, then adding a dab of Dialectic grease and now it works every time I open my hood, and without hitting the light! I couldn't get the damn light housing to open up to attempt a cleaning of the inside compartment with the gravity device. This consequently triggered me into a blind rage whereby I threw it with all my might into the cement surface of the Circle K gas station I was at, smashing it open and pretty much destroying it. Guess I showed that thing and thing or two... No regrets.

Well there's little tabs that hold the housing halves together You can use a small screwdriver to slightly bend it up a bit do one side and then the other.

Took mine off before this vid and thought the thing was broke cause I heard the noise inside lol works great and while your in there wash the lense and does anyone have a link to a white light I could get for it

I still cant get mine to work.....cleaned everything....even used some dielectric grease....i have power all the way to the bulb....bulb is good......seems like a bad ground?

Check with a volt meter (good investment) power to the light at the connector. If that's not getting solid 12.5v check to see if the + side and then using ground on battery gives power. It well could be a ground problem. The lights themselves are obviously not bulletproof (mine's now not working again LOL) so check power, also you can use VOM meter to check the bulb continuity.

All you got to do is find those little tabs and use the small screwdriver bend it up just a little bit + don't break them off - and then do the other one and then the other one and hopefully you can get the things started opening up and just keep going around back and forth on those tabs it's not too bad but it isn't easy.

Linda Vroman a Sorry for confusion At 41 second you can see lid has slots. The main part has protruding bumps. Take a small flat screwdriver and one by one bend lid just enough outward with it to get it to move a bit in direction of coming off. Go all the way around. Hope the helps!
