You’re a good man, Joe. You seem so grateful for every catch and show honor to the critters that that are making you successful. I really appreciate that. I’ve been really enjoying this series and learning a great deal, so thank you for that. If you’re able, it would be cool to show an instructional video on how you skin, stretch and board the furs in preparation for market. Thanks for all you’re doing, bud. Enjoy the holidays.

Love your channel. Have watched for years. Grew up in Sherman Maine. Now live in southern Maine and your videos take me home. I hope to be out of Portland and move home soon. Just turned 57 and want to be near my mom and sister and all my nieces and nephews. Southern Maine is getting crazy. Portland is a city I would never have came to it's just getting so dangerous to live down here. Nice Fisher. Looks viscous

What does the skunk do? Piss them off?

The skunk makes an animal in distress smell, The predators smell that and hear it like a dinner bell and come to check out what prey might be in distress so they can kill and or eat it.

Interesting how trap lines are run in Maine. In Ontario trappers have set licenced areas which are often held for a lifetime and even passed on for generations. You must stick with your lines, specie limits are often set individual areas based on harvest success.

Why do you choose to use 120s over 155s?
@JoeHollandFishing
@JoeHollandFishing 15 күн бұрын
It's my first year back so I am trying different traps. Our exclusion boxes are highly restricted. I Like the size of the 155's best and built 3 dozen boxes. One of my trapping partners thought he had 36 120's so I built boxes and he only had 11 so I just bought more. I also am using another trapping partners boxes he has a mixed bag. So far I am not impressed with the 155's for a few reasons. Not liking the kill on them. Really liking the Bel Isles wish they made a 155 but closest is a 120. The Bridgers triggers are junk and the safeties too long. Also trying a Savageau now looks awesoe with a kill bar.
@NEC-OUTDOORS
@NEC-OUTDOORS 15 күн бұрын
@ thanks for the reply! I’ve got a dozen boxes I used for a couple years with the 155s. But not nearly enough to see the pros vs cons. Hopping to find more time to get out and trap. Loving the trapping videos keep them coming!

The State was generally the original owner after statehood of all Maines Northern Forest. It was sold by the State for general revenue or given away to fund educational institutions who then sold the acreage to timber companies. Its current state of preservation is arguably due to not being in the hands of small landowners.
