This tutorial was to familiarize someone to the functions of the camera, not to educate someone on how speedlites in general work. I actually explain Hertz in another video since it requires a tutorial in its own and the shutter sync speed is dependent on the camera. That said, I hope the video did help you familiarize yourself with the YN560 IV speedlite.

So im to understand theres no way to change the on camera transmitter 560 and an associated group at the same time? IE on camera flash power set to 1/64 but when entering in A group you want all flashs to be at 1/16(including the on camera flash) but the on camera will still be shooting at 1/64th still correct? To make all flashs change to 1/16 i would have to change all in group A on the on camera flash then exit the group to change the on camera flash on its own?

+Christopher Haynes The on camera flash is basically its own group. You can not assign it to A B or C. So if you want to change all the groups power. You have to set each group individually. Hope this helps.

That depends on your camera, not really the speedlite. Look for your cameras specified X-Sync speed. Hope this helps.

I did a off camera flash workshop recently. On the workshop the tutor used these flashes. We was advised that we should buy the YN-560 IV. I was quite surprised at the images considering that the flash unit is inexpensive. I have now bought one from Amazon. Your explanation was clear, concise and to the point. Thanks. Very informative. I have some R2 Flashpoint units with a reciever and they went bad. I am sending them back. Hopefully a full refund. Ok, so i'm interested now in these Yongnuo units with a transmitter. I have a Canon 5D Mark ii. Is it compatible? So, i can trigger my off flash with a on-camera flash unit, correct? And if i want to trigger two units, i'd use the Yongnuo YN560TX LCD Wireless Flash Controller. Hope all is compatible.

Hello Patrick, the YN560 TX controller will work on almost all camera brands since it only uses a center pin for triggering. Its safe to say it will work on all Canon cameras with a hot shoe. I also have a video on the YN560 TX kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmi4iIaPrrGfntU Hope this helps :-)

My YNrf603n II always gets desynchronized from my Yn560IV flash, but thanks to your video I always get them back together. Thanks a lot. By the way, how do I prevent this desynchronization to happen all the time?

Thanks for commenting. I have been using the YN560-TX for my transmitter. But when the flash units fall into sleep mode, I just press the test fire button to get them all sync'd back up again. Hope this helps :-)

The 560IV has a built in transceiver, letting you control other 560IV & III flash units and also be controlled by other 560IV's without the need of extra equipment. Hope this helps :-)

Hello Felicia, this is manual flash. You will need to meter your exposure and use manual mode in your camera. If your at that comfort level yet you may be better off with a speedlite that supports E-TTL metering. Which are commonly more expensive. So I can not tell you what power settings or exposure to use. Not that I would not want to, just its impossible to guess without being there.

+mmsotster Excellent question. From what I understand from Yongnuo's website. The Mark IV can only control the Mark III and other Mark IVs when using the 2.4Ghz radio transmitter. I dont even think the Mark II has a radio receiver. The Mark III has a receiver. But the Mark IV has a transceiver (transmitter & receiver in one). I normally use the YN560TX controller to control my units, it will control everything on the III's and IV's. However I do use a mark IV's to control the other flashes when I am using my ring style softbox which requires the flash to be mounted on the camera. Hope this helps, Joe

+mmsotster The mark IV and YN560TX can trigger the RF-602 and 603. However they can not be used to change any of the flash settings on the mark II. IMHO the best way to solve your issue is to buy new flashes and use the older mark II as a backup/spare flash or one you can adjust up close. Thats what I was doing with my older Mark III and Canon 430EX II speedlites until I purchased 7 of the Mark IV's a few months back. You can get a pair of the Mark IV's and a 560TX bundled together off Amazon normally under $200. Thats what I would suggest. Right now they are going for $182.99 USD if your interested amzn.to/23vrE5K (Canon version)

Hello Roland, this flash does not support HSS. Even if you tried to trigger it as a slave, you would end up seeing the shutter in your image.

Hi! I just bought two yongnuo Speedlights they model No.YN560III and YN560IV. I tried to activate the YN560III in RX mode through YN560IV it talks to YN560III in RX mode but I am able to change the power of YN560III through YN560IV in transmitter(TX) mode. Also the Group is not displayed when in YN560III. Can you tell how can I rectify this problem or where I made a mistake. Or can u tell me to reset the Flash.

Put your mark III in Rx mode and your mark IV in Tx mode. Then hit the two buttons that have ACT in the middle. Hold them until the mark III starts flashing and then hit the set button (middle round button) on the mark III. That should activate your group options. Hope this helps.

To the best of my knowledge no. However I have not tried everyone of of them out. Now you can put one of those external triggers that mounts to the hot shoe on the bottom to trigger it. But you will not have any control over its settings. Hope this helps.

The yn560 speedlite a manual speedlite and how no communication connections. The only connection it has is the firing pin. So no, no camera will recognize it. You will not be able to control the speedlite from inside the camera, you have to control the speedlite from the speedlite. This is the case with all manual speedlites. Only ones that communicate are the more expensive TTL speedlites. Hope this helps.

Odd thing is, when I press the "Test" button on the TX, the speedlite fires, but when I press the shutter button on my camera to take a picture, the speedlite doesn't fire. It's in RX mode. Is one is TTL the other is manual.. There are no real other major differences in performance and functionality other then that.

Joe's Photo & Video Channel actually what the benefits of ttl exactly? Isn't that we have to manually setting our speedlite to achieve result what we want not just depend on automatic(ttl)?

TTL will let you use any of the automatic modes including Av and Tv priority modes and the camera will determine the amount of flash power needed to get a proper exposure. So you do not have to worry with any of the manual settings. It can be much better for event and wedding photography were you do not have time to manually set your exposure every few moments.

You yes you can disable the flash. Remember in the video there is 3 groups and then a "- -" group that controls just the flash. You can then use the flash mode button to choose another "- -", which disables the flash from firing. Hope this helps.

?? Not sure what your asking. But if you asking how long will the batteries last. You can normally get about 200 1/2 power shots. But higher quality/ high milliamp batteries will normally yield more flashes per charge.

How do you change flash compensation by 1/3s on the remote transmitter and not on actual flash itself? I know how to change wirelessly full stops but can't find out to adjust FEC from transmitter itself.

Cant remember of the top of my head. But on the directional pad. Up and Down I believe adjust it in full stops, while Left and Right are in 1.3rd increments. Or vice versa.. Its on of the two anyway :-) Hope this helps.

Joe; I have the YN560 IV, and was wondering if you've heard of this issue before. I'm using the Nikon D5200. With YN560 mounted on shoe, and at 1/1 power, the flash continues beeping, then shuts down. (New battery's) Off the shoe of camera, and pushing the "test" button, unit seems to work fine, recycles within 3-4 seconds. On the shoe of camera, at approx 1/16 power, flash recycles ok.???? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

+Oneline Communication If the flash does not change modes by pressing Mode button. 1st make sure your not using Tx or S1, S2 optical slave modes. It needs to be in standard Manual mode or Rx receiver mode. Hope this helps.

Using optical slave you can. But not via the wireless radio transmitter. Hope this helps.

Excellent video! I just purchased my second yn560iv and truly enjoy them. My first one did get stuck on full power using a Sony a7r but it singeing replaced. Gave me a reason to get a second as I needed an ofc using the 560tx for a shoot prior to the replacement being here. My question is what would you use Multi for? Like in what scenario?

+Enfe Thanks for commenting. Multi flash is great for when you want to take a series of photos per se, yet only one actual photo. For example I have a tutorial coming up I am working on. Where my model will flip her hair back very fast and I want to take 3 shots and combine them into one. Well this is actually very easy with multi flash. For example I will set my flash to strobe 3 times in less then a second. Then I will set my cameras exposure to be open for 1 second. So when we fire the flash, the final photo will have 3 shots in one photo. Much like a dance club with strobe lights, which actually is pretty much exactly what it is. The actual hardest part of this is getting our timing down right. I should be releasing this tutorial about Apr 21st. Cheers, Joe

The 560IV and III both have built in receivers. So you can use YN560-TX, YN622 or YN603 transmitters to trigger the flash units wirelessly without needing to put on on the speedlite. Hope this helps.

Hey Joe, great video. Easier to follow than the manual. I just got two of these along with YN560-TX wireless controller. I have one question. Can these be used as additional light? Not flash, not strobes, just as light? If so can you post correct setting? Thanks a lot.

Can you use this as an on camera flash? Can’t seem to find anything on this. I have the eos r and all I get is a line where the flash shows on the photo. I’ve adjusted the position of the flash and even tried different modes. Still get the line. And I can’t find where the flash settings are on my camera.

ok, now i have the answer: you telling already at 3:55 then turn on my Yongnuo YN560 III and press the center button to activate it...finally i have the "Gr" on my YN560 III Thanks :)
