Awesome Review! thanks for the great breakdown! One thing, if I may suggest, to make your next video easier to watch would be to drop the "full name" after you already introduced the item, for example after saying once: "560 Mark Three" just say "Mark Three" to avoid a ton repetition. And thanks again for the review!

Outstanding review. I like that you've taken such a methodical approach to explaining the feature sets. I purchased the Mark III models recently and have been enjoying them with the triggers, but this is fantastic news. Buy this flash is the best bang for buck over other flashes & still control settings by radio. ATG/Yongnuo are so good that B&H Photo is selling it. 10 flashes for only $700.00. or 5 flashes for only $350.00. Awesome baby power lighting control instead of just one light from those above mentioned.

S Christensen The 560IV is a manual flash, not a TTL flash. Only compatible TTL flashes can be controlled through the in-camera UI. Hence you can access the flash settings directly from the rear panel of the flash.

The actual flash of the Mk IV itself if controlled when the groups show "--". To deactivate other groups its fairly simple, but it is a few clicks away. It can be done on the fly but it will slow you down a little.

@zy_cheng10 жыл бұрын
I have not looked into that yet, I should give it a shot!
@etzow10 жыл бұрын
As far as I have figured out on the net it could be just some kind of marker, to identify the Speedlites in a group. But that doesn't make much sense from a practical point of view. Another idea of mine is, that it could be some kind of a tiny delay in triggering , so that the flashes of one group don't fire up all at once (leaving the model with a more comfortable amount of light simultaneously).

When using the 560 Mark IV off camera (in RX mode) and the 560TX mounted in the hotshoe, the blue light (below the pilot light) stays on. Is it supposed to be like that? It seems to fire ok with the test shots. Just kind of surprised that the blue light stays on. Oh, and if you use the 560 IV and the 560TX together, pressing the pilot light on the 560TX does perform that little sync dance as well. Takes a half second to fire.
@zy_cheng9 жыл бұрын
As far as I know the blue light is actually an RF indicator. When the blue light is on it means theres some RF activity going on. And yup, hitting the pilot on the Tx syncs up all the flashes as well, but yea it takes quite awhile to fire :)

Even though I put it in TX mode to control the remote flash, it always fires even when I don't want it to.

I currently own two YN-560 III and a YN-560 TX. Is it easy two incorporate the IV into this setup? Particularly, I'm curious to know if you can easily swap the TX for the IV as transmitter, so that if you want to alternate between having the IV on and off camera, you just switch between TX mode and receiver mode on the IV? So that if I have the IV in group A, one 560 III in group B and one in group C, the only difference will be whether the IV acts as master or slave?
@zy_cheng10 жыл бұрын
The IV will fit in perfectly with a bunch of III's and a Tx. The IV has an extra Tx mode. When Tx mode is selected on the IV, the IV will function as a master and WILL NOT respond to any trigger signals from another transmitter. The IV will only function as a slave flash when Rx mode is selected. When the IV is a slave unit, it will not transmit any trigger signals. And yes, you can alternate between the Tx and the IV just like that, no re-pairing or reconfig needed.

@zy_cheng9 жыл бұрын
Uanderson Brittes Well like you said, since the price of the III and IV are almost the same, might as well go for both Mark IV's. And yes, all you have to do is really just connect the remote shutter release ports of both cameras together (as in plug one end of the cable into camera A, and the other end into camera B). After that the shutter releases of both cameras should be synchronized. If you're talking about doing this wirelessly I don't really know of a system that can do this yet, but im sure its entirely possible, as long as theres some sort of system that can transmit the trigger signal over the air.

I am also obsessed with vintage cameras. I think they are beautiful bricks of engineering art and wand to know if mounting TX or any flash on a cold shoe damages the units meaning the flash or transmitter by the contacts touching the metal shoe base? I was pleased to see in my last purchase I found the sync cord or is that the right name of the cord? So far I have a Minolta SR-T101 and a Yashica 635 that I love learning to use. I was planning on buying the 560 TX with a set of 560 IV flashes for my Canon rebel 300D (yes even my digital is ancient) and now that I found the sync cord whatchamacallit I was hoping to be able to use it with all my old cold shoe cameras now and future cameras.

Wow, you have a very nice collection mate! And using these new flashes on your vintage cameras will not damage them in any way. The standard hotshoes are well, standardized so they are all...standardized...to work. XD

I don't understand one thing: If i use this flash, would i need another Yongnuo wireless popper or this flash already has a integrated radio receiver (So i would only need a Tx popper on the camera) ?
@zy_cheng9 жыл бұрын
merasanam You'll only need a Tx trigger. The flash has the Rx built in.

Great review, Thanks! Question: I'm planning to use a triple flash adapter(1 yongnou 560 III / 2 yongnou 560 IV) Should I anticipate any problems in the settings with the 2 yongnou IVs? Obviously, one of the IVs will be the master. Any advice?

Hello, I am trying to trigger my YN-560IV using a RF-603C II and not having any luck- the strobes are in RX mode and the channel dipswitches match the screen, but no matter what I do, I cannot use my RF-603C II to trigger the YN-560IV- are these two not compatible???
@zy_cheng9 жыл бұрын
They are supposed to be compatible. Try troubleshooting it with other RF603's or other 560 flashes. It could be broken as well, since YN products are known to fail at times.

Will this work with the Canon T5i? I'm wondering if this one could be used off camera with the T5i without having to use the internal flash pop up to sync.

+Fernando González You need to buy a wireless trigger for this function. look for the Yongnuo RF605C. Buy one, and you can control your flash remotely without line-of-sight from camera. Get two of them with a trigger cable ($33.00 USd on EBay), and you should be able to trigger the camera wirelessly (non line-of-sight), as well as trigger the flash wirelessly. I say "should" because I haven't explored this yet, but I will be as I am buying this to work with my Canon T4i and YN 560 IV. If anyone has more information about this, please feel free to comment. Thanks! :)

Question: I purchased two of the IV's in October of 2016. I have used them maybe twice. I use a Pentax K-3. I tried to use both of these a couple of days ago and neither one would fire from my hot shoe. They fired pushing the pilot light but not my shutter. Any suggestions?
