Be sure to check your state's regulations on using white bass and other game fish as bait. In Tennessee white bass and game fish are legal to use as bait, provided they were legally harvested. They have special hookups used for rock climbing that would work great in those crevices to hold your boat more securely. The more pressure added, the tighter they grip. Not sure what they are called. Got 2 rollers with teeth on them that expand under pressure. See them used in a lot of mountain climbing vids.

I used three different kinds in this video. Which time marker are you referring to?
@bidenhasdementia86577 жыл бұрын
You never want to do what you see on the 7:21 mark. That is a sure fire way to eventually bury a hook deep in your hand. When you swing them like that and then wrap your hand around the line, should the fish come off or shake lose, the recoil of the Rod will immediately spring up, bringing the hook directly into your hand. Seen it happen first hand to a buddy I warned not to do it for years. We ended up in the hospital, and they had to push the hook through the webbing between his thumb and pointer finger, then cut the hook and pull the shank through.
@brandondixon15367 жыл бұрын
Usually with catfish and flats.....if you hook them anywhere in the lips....more times than not you need plyers to take the hook out.....low risk factor.....been doing it for years with fish that size
@bidenhasdementia86577 жыл бұрын
it will get you eventually
@brandondixon15367 жыл бұрын
You just don't know when to or not when to do it
@bidenhasdementia86577 жыл бұрын
ok, sure. I sling fish in the boat, But i dam sure don't put my hand over the line to guide them in. I recommend you don't either, you will end up with a hook in your hand. And as for "if you hook them in the lips" "low risk factor", all the catfish I hook in the lips have a high risk for pulling the hook because they spin when you reel them in. Especially Blues and channels, they come to the surface and spin more than flatheads. If you hook them in bone behind the lips the chance of a pullout is next to none, But if you hook a catfish in the lips the chance of a pullout is high.
@brandondixon15367 жыл бұрын
That's why I look to see where and how they're hooked......I pick and choose when it's safe to or not....it's called common sense which people seriously lack now a days

I met a guy years ago that didn’t mess with bait smaller than a pound and his favorite bait was 2 pound bullhead and he would put that bait right where it was the most turbulent water. Seen a fish take that bull head and in no more than a second that monster bullhead was go. And he had missed his bite. Catching more fish is a lot of fun though
