Hello fellow pokemon trainer mains. At around 70-76 percent down throw up air kills medium weights but the timing is tricky. Razor leaf is actually a really good tool for combos at medium to high percents. Short hop, fast fall razor leaf, short hop razor leaf, up air can confirm on a lot of characters. In some situations if you get them off stage with the first or second razor leaf you can get down air if they dont mash air dodge. Alternatively you can get short hop, fast fall razor leaf, short hop, razor leaf, fast fall up b which will kill by the ledge at like 50-60 on most characters

One thing about Ivy that I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone point out yet: his down throw can also kill. It kills later than his back throw usually, but if you're not throwing them off the stage by the ledge with back throw (like you grab them at center stage or something, or better yet on a platfrom) down throw is more likely to kill than back throw. Not sure the %s it works at exactly, but I can remember killing a Sheik with it around 110%, so it's strong enough to warrant a mention.

Very thorough guide, thanks! You've taught me a lot, but weirdly, we still strongly disagree on a few moves. You mentioned f-tilt is very unsafe, yet you loved dash attack. To me, the colossal ending lag on dash attack puts it at the very bottom of my ivysaur moveset, while f-tilt does exactly what a good tilt should: come out faster than a smash to punish other's smashes, but with less range/launch. Additionally, d-smash is Ivysaur's fastest smash and covers both sides, so it is great for punishing rolls and making space. However, that d-tilt... yeah it's a little poopy.

Tbh, my biggest issue is recovery. Half the time, I feel like I up air and he just doesn’t grab onto the ledge, and I fall and die.

If Ivysaur is underneath the lip of the stage even by a few pixels, the vine recovery won't work. So basically you have to stay squarely in front of the stage. If you fall under the lip, switch to Charizard and try up+b to recover. If you're really good, you can hit an edgeguarding opponent through the floor with the vine, then air dodge up to grab the ledge.

Few quick little tip with Ivysaur. Always buffer your first jump after Upair strings because you can pressure your opponent to airdodge so you can hit them with another Upair or Upb. Backair combos into itself at certain percents, and you can bair into Upair. It’s also good to RAR for pressure and approaching. Downair is actually insane. You can gimp K Rool and every recovery in the game. You can combo Upair 3 times at 0% on battlefield, which does 53%. It’s also good for beating out most moves when they’re above you. Razor leaf is the 2nd best projectile in the game. It’s better if you short hop before you side b, due to airdrift off the side b. You should do a neutral + combo guide with each Pokemon, bro! Would be great to see your opinion on what combos to use when you’re in a match mate! Keep up the good work!

It's spelled Tech. It's when you press your Shield button right before you hit the stage or an obstacle. It reduces landing lag and lets you get up faster. If you get hit off-stage and get launched into the underside of the stage, you can tech to prevent yourself from rebounding off the stage and into the blast zone. There's a bunch of videos on teching which you can easily search up if my explanation isn't enough. I recommend just watching Izaw's guide to Smash Ultimate.

If you want some Sonic combos, here's the link to a video where you can learn them kzbin.info/www/bejne/inSve5R4d9h2i7M Sonic overall is a good character for out speeding others, he's a light weight so he can die somewhat early, his best combos happen in the air so there's that. Also, homing attack is good for unpredictability when you're close to your opponent, just don't try to use it from a far distance cause it can be punished from there, spin dash can also lead to some good combos too

u cant grab the stage with ivy when your underneath the lip of the stage. better to switch to charizard and up B. or if your good you can hit the enemy player ledge guarding threw the stage with ivy and regain back an air dodge to get back to the ledge.
