One thing I like about ENA is that everyone reacts with emotion to things that only make sense in the logic of their world. One of the things a lot of absurdism tends to do is to make the events and subjects so unbelievably alien that there's no association with reality at all. Having a set of human-like qualities gives more room to interpretation of why they act like they do and what's normal to them. There's a disconnect in ENA between reality and the characters, but it's not a COMPLETE disconnect. It's like looking at an alien society that you could communicate with, even if there would be difficulty and accidents.
