Both of those teams struggled against extremely inferior opponents at home. Michigan lost a tough rivalry game, on the road to a team that has a chance to go undefeated and make it to the playoffs. It's obvious to see that MSU and PSU played worse in week 1.

Jordan Byington its the first game of the season. Penn State lost to Pitt and Michigan two years ago and still won the Big 10. Everyone was saying this is Michigans year because Harbaugh "finally has a QB", PSU is a huge question mark, lost a RB, TE, 2 WRs, 2 CBs, multiple LBs, both safeties, i could go on and on. Penn State has excuses for their struggles, they are basically a brand new team besides their QB.

I don't know if it ever works out well in the first game starting for a transfer QB on the road. The elephant in the room is that Michigan didn't score an offensive TD until there was 2 minutes left in the game. That's more to do with a great ND defense than a poor Michigan offense. Even a bad offense can score at least one or two TD's in the first half against a mediocre defense. Also, Saban may want to play 2 QB's this year like he switched it up against Georgia and if that's the case why would he give away his strategy or lie? Maybe Klatt never gets grumpy if he gets home from work and immediately his kids are jumping all over him asking if they can go out and get ice cream, I don't know. Klatt would even have time to drive home and cool down too.

Well FAU was a top 10 offense last year and only got 95 yards in the first half vs the starters. It’s pretty early to say anything, but Oklahoma put up 56 points before FAU even scored once.
