Joel Kramer Israel Study Tour 2019 -#4 Capernaum

Capernaum is a small fishing village located on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee and is where Jesus' ministry headquarters was located, marked by the St. Peter's Church. Joel explains the archaeology underneath the church and surrounding area, including the remains of a 4th Century synagogue built on top of a 1st Century synagogue where Jesus taught from.

So, these ancient "houses"... all we see is ...pretty uncomfortable rock (!) I assume we are supposed to use our imagination to create pillows and cushions or quilts, and mattresses, for comfort and liveableness. Looking at Jesus' headquarters and Mary's house, where did they sleep? I am not able to distinguish bedrooms.. I wonder where I might see an ancient house like this in its livable form, from that time period?
