"THAT RECORD IS SAFE FOREVER" Yeah, thats what they said... Go to buyraycon.com/... to get 15% off your Raycon purchase this holiday season! Brought to you by Raycon. Today we try a true authentic English meal originating from south London - Ground Beef Pies with Mash & Liquor (non-alcoholic parsley sauce) at Flo's Pie and Mash (minced steak pies). This British food challenge is not for the faint of hearts, and the only way you can get Flo's Pie Challenge for free is if you beat the record. However, it turns out that the beef pie record was just over 3 minutes, not the 7 Minutes we thought! This london food challenge has been around the a number of years and is liekly one of the most well known and famous, with thousands of attempts to get the £16 meal for free. The rules are if you can eat the meal in 20 minutes you technically "beat the challenge" but you get no real prize. They do have a wall of fame but it isn;t overly used and they no longer award t-shirts for completion either. Can we defeat this United kingdom food challenge? Tune into see as we try this ManVFood London challenge!

This is a meal that was meant to fill up working class dock workers in the very specific South East of London. It would be pie and mash as well as jellied eels, which were super common in the river. It's a super cheap meal, hence its blandness as it's very basic ingredients.

@@RomeoMike22 no, they are run by families that have owned them for decades, they keep it the same way because that's how it is. That's the dish. If you change it, it becomes a different dish. Most pubs in London sell pies which have seasoning, but this is a very specific type of dish that is only sold in a few places in East London. Why would they change their one USP.

As a Londoner (from the East End) you could find jellied eels pretty much anywhere years ago. I was never really a fan of them, however, you HAVE to try smoked eel if you ever get the chance. Cockles, Winkles, Mussels and Whelks were also popular. I always found whelks a bit too chewy but Cockles, Mussels and winkles are really nice.

pie, mash and liquor served with malt vinegar is a meal that originated in the EAST END of london docks the jellied eels were traditionally served with the pie and mash in victorian times. if you don't eat the liquor it is NOT the cultural experience of a real Eastender. The pies and mash and the way they were served (scraped on the side of the plate) did look authentic. The jellied eels were traditionally boiled in a stock of vinegar bay leaves water. The jelly was the from the collagen in the bones (no gelatine added). the eels were caught in the docklands. This joel WAS NOT the traditional dish of the EAST END OF LONDON Not even a poor relation.

Awesome! My wife is from London and introduced me (Canadian) to pie and mash. Ploughmans lunch is also terrific if you get a chance.

Tourtiere. We have them at Christmas here in Quebec. Love them as well but a different dish from the English meat pies.

Oh, I couldn't do that! The green gravy would be a no no for me and the mashed potatoes smooshing over the side of the plate messes with the slight OCD in me. Driving in the right seat and in the left lane would have me a nervous wreck and I'd be a danger to anyone on the road with me. But, look at Joel! He smashes through any challenge like it's nothing!

Driving on the left side of the road is bad enough. But shifting with your left hand takes it to another level.

When in England the only thing to eat are kebabs off the Kabob trucks. They love Indian food. Beyond that it's a good time to fast when you go to England unless you're in the upper class, then they eat French food.
