Thank you guys for sharing your story congratulations on your wedding I too did marriage counseling before getting married 6 weeks it is very beneficial I have now been married for 14 years three children and to this day we still go back to the teachings that we was taught if anything I can tell you studying the word and having a a prayer life together and separately and communicating dislikes and likes and always putting things in God's hands putting him first everything will fall into place and finding a good church fellowshipping with other people with same beliefs I pray you guys will have many blessed years together and children.

Great looking meal!! I’m so glad you guys had the counseling. My husband and I did not, but talked about so many things before the ceremony. We talked about chores, children, work... It has been almost twenty- five years (25th anniversary in June) and I can still remember all we said. As Li said there is always one who loves more but that doesn’t matter as long as you can always show you love your spouse. I know the Lord has blessed your union and has many blessings in stored for you. I’m so glad you guys share with us a piece of your world and that we get to see that world through different forums. This is so amazing that you brought up your martial counseling experience with all of us and to be so open. I am an ordained minister and have been married for 23 years. I know and feel that marriage when done right is a beautiful covenant experience between the two of you along with Jesus Christ... The Lord and The Holy Spirit. My prayer is that God will continue to be the silent listener at ever table and every conversation. I was so happy when Li brought up 'RESPECT" I knew then and there it was a gentle tugging from The Holy Spirit and I felt it was ok to slip right on in. Please know if she had not brought it up I would never have intruded into your lives as far as respect is concerned; so now I don't think they you will mind if I speak openly and not feel I am coming off being rude or disrespectful, for that is not my intent at all!! I have noticed in watching these videos that quite often Li will disrespect Joel and will talk back and it is not very polite to speak as a Christian wife to your husband like that, but I am so happy to see that she is aware that she is doing it and so willing to correct it. Love can't ever be in the same room with Disrespect! To be a christian the wife should never talk back to their husband in public or in front of friends. Joel is so super polite and he never corrects Li, however, I am not aware of her culture so it would be none of my business to ever or "NEVER" interfere or say a word back to my husband nor in the presence of another man out of respect for my God or my husband. Please no that my intent is only being brought up "ONLY" because Li mentioned it as the Number one thing she got out of her counseling and I am a martial counselor as well as being a Christian for over 50 years. My intent is not to be rude but Li try using the Amplified Bible or the NASB and start reading The New Testament first. Please feel free if this is offensive to either of you please take it down after you read it and I won't be offended I'm here to help at any time and I am grateful to have come across your page and have grown to love your attitude and love you have for all. I love you both and I look forward to our continued friendship love and hugs to both of you. Li your English was very very good and I understood it all. So may your marriage be continually blessed and know that the best is yet to come!!!!

Congratulations Joel and Li. I have been married for 28yrs. The one piece of wisdom I would like to share is that on any given day a relationship is hardly 50/50. For the most part, the mere idea of admitting one is seeking or currently in therapy is (sadly) met with a negative judgement. But the ones who strive for a Growth Mindset, soon realize that seeking therapy is all about getting better, understanding thyself, and allowing yourself to be open minded to other frames of thinking, rather than just what life has conditioned us to believe. You summed it up best Joel, when you said, "I'm so much more LESS nervous, and so much MORE confident...and I've been nervous (about marriage) for years!!!" This....THIS is what the process of understanding self discovery looks like in therapy! Whether it be for Life, Personal, Business, Relationships, etc...gaining knowledge and awareness directly breeds confidence to make better, more informed decisions. On a final thought: I really appreciate the vulnerability to share each of your stories and true feelings!
