DIY: Fixing A507/607 on an EGO Zero Turn Mower

Was just mowing the yard for the second time this season, no issues other than the grass was heavy and I was running blades at full speed. Stopped to pick up a stick, got back on and started blades, 507!! Found this video so I figured I'd get a new board (or two) and follow this. Before all that, checked the app and found out firmware needed to be upgraded. Did so and now the 507 is gone!! So, you might want to give that a try. But I'm gonna order a couple of these boards, just in case.

Thanks for the video. I had my right blade motor fail. It turned out the plug for removing the deck had a pin come loose. These mowers are overly complicated garbage. Mine is a year old and has been in the shop twice. The board to tha batteries went out, the charger went bad and now the display won't turn on. Don't waste your money people!

This man is a genius! I have the exact same problem with a z6 smart steering unit. Both of my blade motors would not spin. Ego had no clue what to do. I followed his instructions and just like that I’m up and running. Thanks brother

Great video! I followed it carefully to fix my 507, but it didn’t work. I got out ye olde voltmeter and measured the voltage on each red wire (input power.) They were all 56V, except on the problem board. I followed that wire back to a second box where it is fed by a fuse. The fuse was blown. New one ($1.50) on order. In the mean time, I added a jumper to feed both blade motors from the left fuse. It’s working great on the slowest setting!

I have a Z6 and the right blade wont turn. The left one comes on intermittently. The PTO switch problem indicator flashed on the display. It doesn't give any error codes though. Should I replace this part or is there another likely cause? I have already taken the deck off and thoroughly cleaned it out. Checked my blades out and they are fine.

i took mine apart took left side off saw burnt mark threw a little solder on it and boom! blades back on! im still going to order new 1 but dam! thank you!

Hmmmm... Get a 3 blade Deck unit, and another controller. now I have the wider mower. Right?!👍 Is there a 3rd USB plug on the "controller" ?

great video, I just got my new 52" Ego ride on, and it showed up DOA with error codes for the wheel motor boards, lap bar boards, and parking break board... I'm assuming the black box there is the communications board for all the other PCBA systems? how likely is it my mower showed up with a bunch of disconnected wires, over actual fried components?

Its entirely possible that they just... didn't connect things up. Wouldn't surprise me. Also before ordering any new boards, make sure all of the boards are connected and try to do a firmware update through the ego app as they may just need to be synced up to the main board.

I've got a 42" thats throwing OVERLOAD errors, but blades seem fine. I'm on to checking the fuses

I had the 42” one but then returned it. I had an error code but then did the software update and it fixed it.

​@JoeMartinMVC opened mine up and noticed small green led lights on each board. One of mine was out was wondering If you might of noticed it aswell and if that was an indicator of a bad board. I can't ell on mine Because I have multiple error codes.

At 20 hours is this repair not covered under the 5 year warranty ? I've got codes 313, 507, 607. My right steering motor seemed partially siezed and the tire hard to turn manually. Hoping ego will warranty the machine at only 44 hours of use !

I wish it was, but they only offer the warranty for the original owner, which isn't me since I bought it secondhand

I have the same error codes, in addition to 3, I also had 312 but it just disappeared now. When the wheel was locked out on you, I assume you couldn’t push it forward and back? Mine has no issue pushing it so it doesn’t seem to have the same issue. I did switch the first board 407/507 but when I engage the mower I see lights on all but one board, which is the right wheel. Looking into possibly bad board there too.

I see you have an ego compatible battery. How does it compare against normal ego batteries?

Honestly it's been just as good as the OEM batteries for me.

Error code 401, loose connection on right wheel motor. Anyone have a fix for this?

I’d disconnect the plug above the deck, clean it up and reconnect. Ensure it is fully seated.

I have error code 312 and 313, did anyone experience these? Prior do do a hard reset, 507 and 607 was present but now only 312/313 shows up. One beep and no movement what so ever. Disconnected the 3 deck plugs, cleaned them, still nothing. I ordered the board part hoping that will solve my issue.

I've just replaced the part and it did not fix my issue, which leads me to believe that my issue originates with the 312 and 313 error codes. 312 documents as "Right steering lever controlling PCBA fails." and 313 as "PCBA controlled right driving motor fails.". I assume 312 triggers something downstream, and the rest of the codes follow. I'll continue to troubleshoot and provide updates, meanwhile if anyone has gone through this already please help!

Ok.. in taking a closer look at the boards while the z6 is tuned on, I see 4 of the 5 (mine is a 52 inch deck) have a small green light lit. The 5th one, which is the right wheel is not turned on. Luckily I purchased an extra board so I will swap that one too. Will report back.

@@user-vh2lh3js7e i would get codes and i would flip my mower 90 degrees both ways, cleaned with compressor behind wheels, the brakes and steering control. Seemed to help. Also sometimes just swinging the lap bars out as hard as you can helped me

Update.. I lifter the back of the mower on jacks and powered it on. When trying to spin the wheels by hand, the left one I could not but the right one spins freely, it doesn't seem to be engaging at all. That's the one that's tied to the electrical board which does not have light on our of the 5. I removed the right wheel motor to inspect it and all checks out visibly, the motor gears appear to be fine, no rattle at all. Inside of the gear box everything looks good too. But to be sure, I will see if I can swap the line connections from the right wheel to the left, if the lines reach great, if not I will just remove the motor from the left wheel and install it on the right. If the gear box and motor communicates with the main control board, and the wheel engages, and I get different error codes (ties to the left side now) then the my problem is with a bad motor. Will work on this tonight and report back.

After contacting Ego support, we performed a hard reset by removing the batteries for at least 15 minutes. Following the reset, I started encountering the following error codes: 311, 313, 310, 607, 507, and 312. We also attempted a firmware update, but it failed multiple times. The Z6 currently has 39 hours logged on it. At the moment, the local Ego service center is diagnosing the errors and exploring possible solutions, but they haven't had any success yet. I was wondering if you've had any luck fixing yours.

Hey friend, great video. If u live in United states warranty stickers dont matter. Ment to scare people. But there is actually a law that protects u to work on this without any issues. Anytime a company plays this game with me after i already took something apart i quote the law and tell them to inform their legal department i will be filing a lawsuit if my issue isnt fixed in a timely matter. So far, ive goten 2 free brand new vacuums(shark), a blender(ninja), a mixer(ninja), a multihead system for yard work(ryobi), several other tools(ryobi). Most of the time, once u take it apart yes they dont want it back to attempt repair since their policy is to not take stuff back for warrantys with that sticker broken, so they just sent me new stuff to replace the stuff. Magmuson and moss warranty act of 1975. I have also ended up in court with this law since ninja the first time didnt ever respond, now they do, since a 2500 dollar judgement made them respect the law. Yourwelcome!!! I make it my goal in life to inform people of this law, as its been around for a very long time during the VCR/beta and other electronics and cars finally coming out with warranties and companies were dragging their feet to help people, so this law was made to help us, when government officials actually cared about the american consumer! Law is still in place and considering its wording it generally covers almost any warrantied products.

So 20h that means is still has warranty, mmmh I hope you gust get a new board instead of spending 120$ on it.

Warranty only applies to original purchaser and was already past the warranty time period.
