Eh, not really. I dont rhink enough people give credence to the Great Filter. I knew what that was way before this podcast, and I think the Great Filter theory is *probably^ fairly true. The whole theory of the Great Filter is basically that no one species can live long enough that they evolve to the point that they start using things like intergalactic travel. Especially if *all* life in existence evolved the same way as most animals on earth. Because humans are a HUGE anomaly when it comes to that. Crocodiles, for example, have been virtually unchanged for hundreds of millions of years, and will continue to be that way. Humans having this weird explosion in our evolution, where out of nowhere, relatively quickly, we got smart enough to be able to build shit, and get involved in space travel, is super anomalous. Cuz theres just no other animal on earth, besides us, that evolved like that. And most lifeforms in the galaxy are probably the same way. They’re either VERY far away, and have the sMe level sentience and sapience of what normal animals on earth have, or they do evolve like us, but all eventually get destroyed (either by some natural disaster OR by themselves) before they can master intergalactic travel. Because the universe is BIG, a lot of people have trouble conceptualizing how big it really is. One light year, is essentially, one year of human life worth of travel, and MOST of the universe is further than 60/70 lightyears away Which, immediately makes it so that we would never be able to travel to those parts within one human lifetime. So, we would have to load up a ship with people, and then have those people have families *in* space, so that when the parents died, maybe the kids, or the grandkids would be able tonsee an alien planet once they actually got to it, since it takes longer than the length of a human life to get there in the first place. Thats why we’re so interested in wormholes. If wormholes are real, it would circumvent having to be beholden to the size of the universe, and we could travel hundreds of light years in a couple minutes or hours

It would be super weird to think about. Elon said that we could colonate the whole galaxy in a million years with sub-light travel. Which means it would take decades or centuries to travel to different solar systems or planets. If the whole galaxy was colonized there would be billions and trillions of people living all over the galaxy that you would never even be able to visit or see in your lifetime unless you were born in the same area as them.
