Thanks Joe! Data center power: @1:29 130 MW seems possible but 500 MW by 2025? I have my doubts that the new transformer at the substation and the 16 new three-phase circuits going to the south end can provide that much power? Maybe some of the electrical experts on here can tell me if I'm right or wrong? Substation expansion project: @ 29:40 (Bottom right) 3 new switches installed on the structure by the man lift. Circuit breakers.... Notice that the new concrete pad is different from the others. New circuit breakers may be a different style from a different manufacturer, though still rated at 345 kV. HVAC systems common in data centers expel warm air outdoors, creating a consistent, untapped wind resource that can be converted into electricity. In a case study of a Colombian data center, researchers used vertical axis Tesup V7 wind turbines to capture this man-made waste wind. The turbines, installed atop chillers, were chosen because they minimized size and weight while maximizing electricity generation. The amount of gross electricity produced annually by six wind turbines was 513.82MWh from artificial airflow, exceeding the energy consumption of the facility's fans, and providing a surplus of 131.2MWh. Is Tesla considering such a system?

All that vent equipment on the roof above the 4680 cell production area may mean they have installed a wet cathode line. Elon obviously keeps focus on key production processes under development. Long lead time equipment is obviously bought early to get best market price and use Tesla's money in the bank to fund early delivery. But it appears Tesla is very reluctant to spend money on things that cut costs by avoiding waste - keeping a neat and tidy site. They could have converted parking lot to casting storage months ago. Working in mud and randomly located stuff has hidden costs. The Austin plant manager needs budget to keep things neat and tidy so plant investment can reap the benefits of faster work, less rework, less write-off of damaged stuff, less cleaning etc. All Tesla plants in Fremont, Shanghai, Berlin and Austin have suffered in this way. The new Semi plant construction goes far better as it is far more neat and tidy.

So here's where I'm at Joe. I'm 65 years old. And I work in a highly techical job. But the whole concept of Megawatts doesn't mean anything.This a new measurement scale that myself or especially the average person cannot make a comparison to is extremely confusing to be honest. Pesrsonally I belive that the proponents of electrification don't give us a suitable means of comparison. So you say that the current situation is 150MW versus a future of 500MW. What does that even mean to me or the average person? This is a big problem that I have with the justication of electrification. The pro-electrication community offers no information about how this compares to the current situation. And I hate to say this, and I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it's the 800 pound gorilla in the room. Just what if somebody decides to unleash an EMP weapon? Which is not fiction. All of this will come crashing down.
@steinwaymodelb

I'm not sure how you can consider watts/kilowatts/megawatts/gigawatts a 'new measurement scale'... it's been one of the common standard units of energy measurement for hundreds of years. What other unit of measurement are you comparing it to that you find inscrutable? EMP attacks are an equal threat to combustion vehicles. It's just a matter of shielding critical components properly.

@@steinwaymodelbHundreds of years? Man are you the clueless one! Electricity hasn’t been around that long! Here is the actual info! Do the concepts of British thermal units (BTU), kilowatt-hours (kWh), or megajoules (MJ) make any sense to you? Because all those are the units of measurement for energy, such as that that produced by burning gasoline. BTU: One gallon of gasoline contains 115,000 BTU; kWh: One gallon of gasoline contains 33.7 kWh; MJ: One gallon of gasoline contains 121.3 MJ. Source: Google AI, via the US EPA.
