I was 9 year old 4th grader at Jefferson elementary when the Chalenger shuttle did the watusi all over the sky. It was a couple of weeks after we got back from the Christmas break that year. I remember the part leading up to it because of Christa McAuliffe being a teacher. We watched it happen on TV around 9:00-10:00 that morning. I’ll never forget it.

Funny thing about that 101 "BOOM" graphic , there was a teacher from Northern California aboard the Challenger that day named Christa McAuliffe . I believe she was Camron Park Ca. because they opened a skatepark in her honor . Its a fun park a little bit of everything to skate .

I would treasure a half-ass trophy more than any other, especially when it takes full-ass effort to win it. Irony is not lost on me. I've got a few of those after 20+ years as a graffiti writer, but none are quite as obvious a gag. My best is a rusty iron bar that nearly killed me. I have some mid century spray cans and very weird knick-knacks, like the rusty ladder rung that broke under my weight 100 feet up the fire escape of an abandoned Connecticut factory. It failed after I bore weight on it, leaving me with my first ever moment of true survival instinct. I broke it off completely on my way back down, and brought it home. 20 years later, almost every guest that does my house tour asks why a bent, unremarkable rusty bar is on display in my art studio curio cabinet. I tell the story, and they either look at me like I'm insane for the rest of the night or share their stories of youthful adventure. Either way, they're always curious. It's my version of a shrunken head. There's a white-knuckle story behind it, and most guests want to hear more.

I need that Natas Challenger. I was pretty close to Kennedy Space Center in school when it blew up. We were all outside watching the launch and then it got weird when we realised we just watched 7 people die ...parachutes were not an option. One of the Astronauts was a female school teacher. A popular joke was N.A.S.A= Need Another Seven Astronauts. It was fkd up.
