He’s only been telling stories for 30 years...He could tie that Doug Flutie story to any number of things of a funny nature. That being said, you can go two different ways. You can find it hilarious that he knows details, or you can also appreciate the art of bullshitting with some great writing skills and top notch story telling.

The confusion of trying to figure out why he would even lie about what he says, persuades you to giving him the benefit of the doubt. I’m not sure if it’s like what John said, the art of bullshitting or if that’s what people do with high I,q.’s when they’re trying to lie. But it is a good technique either way.
