People aren’t unhappy with Logano winning because it was improbable. It’s because he wasn’t even a top ten car all season. It seems like people keep saying things like “people just don’t like him” or whatever, but the truth is pretty obvious. Dude just didn’t belong in a championship battle. I guess it’s more like people aren’t understanding or at least not liking that the championship isn’t what it used to be. Champion used to mean ‘best this year’ and now it’s just a weird tournament thing that involves lots of luck and circumstance. It seems pretty indisputable that the championship is less meaningful than it used to be.

MTJ... Joey's, like most Ford drivers', was really a tale of two seasons. For the first half of the year, Ford teams were at a clear disadvantage outside of superspeedways. Once they got things sorted out, they were able to compete on more equal footing with the Chevy and Toyota teams on a wider variety of tracks, spending more time running in the top ten. I suspect that if Penske and other Ford teams had a full season with a competitive car, the final numbers would have looked quite a bit different.

Kyle, you are truly a great sports newscaster. You have given us viewers a “very good summary” on the last race of the year. I watched the race with a “steno pad” divided into four columns - one for each of the “Final-4”. I had my iPhone, iPad, MacPro and HP all running covering the race from “in-car”. It was an exciting race, especially at the end where Ryan Blaney had the speed, but these Gen-7 cars are so equal, passing to catch Joey burned up his tires. A week ago I wrote down my predictions; Winner Joey, as that team is laser-focussed. Ryan Blaney would somehow break. William Bryon would just not be fast enough, and Tyler Reddick and team would stumble. I got pretty close on my predictions. My dear wife compliment me that I was truly a “fan of the sport”. I was humbled by her kind comments. I say all that to say that your description here today of the race, not only helped me “relive” the race once again, but ADDED to the final championship race for me. Thank you so much for all the work, studying and preparation that you put into this “replay” of this great race. Oh, so many storylines. I am not sure even where to begin but let start with here. Joey played by the rules and won, fair and square. (This coming from a Mellon Man fan.) Joey is not my favourite driver for sure, but he and every person at Penske simply out raced, out planned, out prepared, and out strategized all the competition, including their 2023 champion teammate. Joey’s story is similar to Justin Alligaier story, and what a story Justin brought. Justin is one of my “faves”. I was cheering for him on Saturday, and boy he sure did not make it easy for himself. I loved Justin’s, “key the JAWS music”. I watched his car, thread that finish and win the championship. Oh how exciting it was. What a deserving champion. So to is Joey a deserving champion - he won playing by the rules and out raced them all. The championship started with 16. Yes, Kyle Larson had 6 wins, but he also had 50 playoff points to give him an advantage in “this system” of crowning the “best”. Kyle, and all the others, simply, over the 10 races, were NOT the best - they faltered, and the best, Joey Lagono got better and better. Like you, Kyle, after Bowman et al, couldn’t get their weights right, Joey getting back in, was all that Penske.org needed to repent, and “put right their stride” and shut down all the naysayers with what we all watched that team do!! It was amazing. If Kyle Larson was the best, why did he not win? When the race really counted, and the pressure was truly ON, it was Joey Lagono and team that was up for not being rattled, and NOT Kyle Larson and team. Winning is VERY difficult! Winning when you have to is even harder. Kyle Larson was up for it, but Joey Lagono was. This is already long so I won’t go much more but to say there are many, many stories that are quite significant to the futures of NASCAR, drivers and teams, to the fans…..2025 is going to be a year of change like no other in recent memory. NASCAR will not look the same at all. I hope our sport can survive and we can show the world the very best of our talent to the greatest number of eyes. That the world has more respect for NASCAR and the choices it makes for itself, the teams, the drivers and the fans. May they not lose their way as they grow into this AI digitized Age. Thank you so much Kyle, you truly made my recap of Sunday’s race GREAT! I look forward to your new channel as I know I will learn about sports that I know nothing about, through yours “eyes upon the past”, and become a new fan. May I be the surprise winner of MTJ’s helmet. LOL 😂 MTJ Jim

MTJ It seems like most of the issues NASCAR has had to adjudicate lately are side effects of the playoff system. Real competition has been stymied in so many ways, (stage racing, playoffs, manufacturer influence) that it feels less and less like a real sport every season. I'm not a big Joey fan, but congrats for exposing the shortcomings of a championship that rarely recognizes the best performers.

MTJ Flashback ideas. - The guy Woody Hayes punched.-The PI flag in the Miami/OSU NC game that gave OSU another shot at winning.-Christian Laettner's Dream Team Experience - Larry Brown's Super Bowl MVP - Jeff Gordon's 17 Top 5s in a row. Ended by a rain shortened race that he probably would have won. I was not a Gordon fan, but that is still one of the most amazing records in sports. -Not 20 years, but Flutie's drop kick. Getting the inside story from everyone would be cool. - Texas beating Nebraska in the 1st Big 12 Championship with James Brown fake handoff to Ricky Williams and a roll out pass and long gain on 4th down to seal the win. - 85 Villanova Wildcats - 1983 Daigerfield, Texas Tigers HS Football team. Record 16-0. Outscored opponents 631 to 8 and the 8 points was a single score from a higher classification team, the extra point was blocked and a safety. 13 shutouts in a row. 0 points allowed in district play and 0 points allowed in the playoffs. They averaged 39 points per game almost exclusively running and allowed on average a half a point per game. Look them up. - Flo-Jo's record breaking performances and the still standing records and controversy.
