NAIL THE MIX is an online mixing school created by Joey Sturgis, Joel Wanasek and Eyal Levi - the guys who produced bands like TDWP, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall, Machine Head, Monuments, Miss May I, Of Mice & Men, Reflections, Born Of Osiris, Asking Alexandria and dozens more of this generation's best metal bands.
Every month, NAIL THE MIX members get exclusive access to the REAL MULTI-TRACK SESSIONS from a REAL ALBUM, and a 6-8 hour live streaming class from the producer who mixed it. These are the actual sessions by bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, Periphery, Papa Roach, Machine Head, Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember and more - and NTM is the only place in the world you'll get access to them!

Big daddy otero! Hope he comes back for another session soon. We know hes got both new inferi and archspire cooking up. Insta signup if its either of those sessions... or both?! Since it seems like there's multiple sessions per month nowadays for NTM

He mentioned the G Buss compressor, I assume that's a hardware unit? Anyone know how much gain reduction he's getting there?

Even if the video is called mix bus processing, this is basically a mastering chain isn't it?

was getting that impression as well when he started doing all those eq moves and then slammed it with a limmeter too

Yeah, the line between the two is kinda blurry. For me personally, I do all of that processing very close to the end of my mixes because I do think of them as mastering, even though I like to send out my mixes to be mastered by others. Some of that "mastering" that I do on the mix bus then stays on and it just becomes part of the mix before I send it off for the actual master. What I'm trying to say is: It's a bit of a philosophical question and how you think of it. Is it something you do to finalize the mix or is it already meant to be the actual master? Both is valid, depending on the situation.
