Johan stated that his goal was to commit suicide without anyone knowing and he called it "The Perfect Suicide" but the true goal was to be the last one left in this world.

He remembered that at the end of the book he would devour his "other self" (Nina) too, so he decided to make a different end by erasing any trace of his existence.

This is a very thought provoking and complex series. Takes you through a journey of various humans and their psychologies. A must watch. Its so diverse and realistic. Like people hype it up only for johan but the overall premise of the show, its side characters, historical references and that realistic world vibe is what this show is about. It has so much content. A mammoth of a 74 episode dive into the concepts of human life, point of living, nihlism, depression, hope etc. I could go on and on but i would always find something new on rewatching it. Have watched it three times already. Gonna do it again soon.

As an matter of fact, being able to manipulate with anger and fear is impresiv for johans age at that time. But remember, Johan is not real, hes an fiktional charachter ment to teach us a lesson, his goal is not what it seems at first.
