You Dutch deserve all the success you've achieved and will achieve in the future, your ability to churn out top class speed skaters generation after generation is amazing. But being the biased Norwegian i am Koss will forever be my biggest hero not as much for the Lillehammer games(which was an insane chain of feats), but more for what he went on to do after the games. The amount of charity spirit and goodwill in this man makes a grown man teary eyed just thinking about it. A giant among humans as a whole :)

I was so very fortunate to be there and watch these unbelievable performances. Memories forever etched in my mind...especially the 10K when immediately after the race he did a live interview and was hardly out of breath! Koss was the Boss!

I was about 12 during Lillehammer, & even though I'd always enjoyed watching speed skating, that particular olympics I took way more interest in it because I had the hots for Johann Olav Koss so bad, lol!

He's living in Canada now.Speed skating isn't that popular in Norway anymore.I saw the Hamar Oval 4 years ago along with many of the other Lilehammer venues.

I can add a comment, as i sharpened skates, for two of the gold medalists. Voss, spent some time there playing tennis, winning one tourney.DO YOU RECALL A PAIR OF SKATES, BEING AUCTIONED FOR A CHARITY, FOR EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS?THEY ARE NOT IN CANADA.

Now they are a minute faster almost on the 10 k 12.36 and half a minute on the 5 k 6.01 and 10 second on the 1500 meter 1.40

Rimpelmans The difference between Koss and the rest is too big. Not normal, also the times and the fact that a few weeks before he did not skate very fast. We all believed Amstrong was innocent.....

Jaap van Barneveld all of Johan Olav Koss' records have been broken thanks to the inclusion of the Clap Skate, you can't prove he used EPO other than with hearsay, a player plays better when he's playing for a home crowd. As for what you said about Armstrong, former Tour De France Winner Laurent Fignon said that he knew that ALL the riders were using EPO, when he saw the riders the same age as he is, who use to never beat him being able to catch up with him. Everyone in Cycling was on drugs, the TdF has lost all credibility after that scandal, as for J.O.K. it's over 10 years, stop being bitter about it.

Nice of you to be a skeptic. in his career, he trimmed, fifty nine seconds off of his longest race/world record. i have quite competitions, due to sneeky doping, such as le'tour... it is rampant. Voss, was anti drugs.

In general, The Samers had the same short-skull as Aborigines although blonde hair, and blue eyed, with no other lineaments to distinguish them from Australians: What makes them think they can survive better than the long-skull people? I may be short-skulled, but my face is emblazoned as other Swedish Conservatives, and this is what makes me special under an environment. It's a stereotype, but even Yugoslavian women think all The Sami can compare with them because they are better looking: Oh, if you are better looking then you can have a baby, or survive better in the cold, BUT IN THE END, IT'S ONLY ABOUT LOOKS!!!!! NOT A GAME!!!!!
