After 20 years, still brings tears to my eyes. That one gold means more to Dan than 50 would mean to any other athlete. He almost slipped on that turn - Jane kept him up!!!

Wow, that music absolutely killed this clip. I hope whoever edited this has already been fired.

I cried after this race. I was/am supporter of the dutch skaters. The story of his career/life got to me somehow. As a little boy I was happy he had won the sprint. No dutch sprinter was alive then :-) So i had another hero. It is different now and I love the 'Mulders' Still it stays an 'epic' moment what Dan Jansen did. Greets Gnus

What if you just put the original audio. They must be some commentators who are commenting on the event.

I loved Lillehammer! That was an awesome olympics. I loved Albertville too-that was so cool how during that time, they decided to change it, so there was a winter olympics in both 92 AND 94!

I really appreciate this channel and all it provides for us, but I do think that the background music on these historical moments really takes something away.

I still have to wipe away some tears, 20 years after. Even though I was a Norwegian girl aged 13 at that time I still remember this like it was yesterday. I just had to google this when Norwegian TV showed this clip now during the olympics.

The best audio is the Norwegian announcers. They went absolutely crazy. If you can find it anywhere it's worth a listen. This music is awful.
Steven Sharp Wow, thanks for the link. Watching that put a smile on my face.

This is still the best moment of Olympic for me. This always reminds me how strong a person's spirit can be. Yesterday, Japanese woman figure skater, Mao Asada's perfect skating after her unbelievable failure reminded me this scene.

I remember being so happy for Dan when he finally raced the way he knew he could. One question...Dan's time in this race would have gotten last place in this year's games. Is the difference that the athletes are that much stronger now, differences in equipment, track ice, or other?
@jeffreymoody85605 жыл бұрын
Improved technology in both the equipment they use (clap skates vs traditional) as well as the way they train.
@SweetSirenia3 жыл бұрын
And the suit technology as well. Everything about the equipment is so much better.

Sorry not trying to sound negative but too many people think adding a music track to a video, which is a simple drag and drop thing, think that it makes them a movie producer. I watched this live in 94 and it doesn't need music. I agree with a previous poster the awful music kills this video

There were...But the olympics doesn't own the rights to the networks that were broadcasting the commentary so were stuck with this. It's better then silence...or is it?
