Christmas Eve is a big day for us Finns. We are mostly an atheist people but celebrating Christmas with family is more of a cultural practice than religious. We celebrated this year's Eve at Hämeenlinna with my mother's partner's family. It was the first time for Annika and Vinod to see Santa bring gifts, decorating the Christmas tree, all that delicious food and meeting my extended, blended family. I'm sure they'll take these wonderful family memories back to India with them. We also visited the cemetery where my grandparents and father is buried. It's a Christmas tradition in Finland to visit the graves and remember the dead.
