Agreed. When it was announced that he would be joining Motley I had my reservations. I'm way less iffy now that I've seen more of his work. The fact that he's so versatile will make him a good fit, musically. I love his humble attitude. He's a bit more of a showman and that is really the only thing that originally left me skeptical. But... the man has talent that cannot be denied. I wish him well and much greater success with Motley.

There are many legend guitar players. But one thing makes John 5 unique is that he can play anything. To find a player so versatile is hard to find. Also he is one of the most grounded coolest guys you could ever meet. To watch him play with the Creatures was an amazing experience. You have got to see them play. It is worth every second. My mind is still blown away by the talent by all three individuals that took that stage. Forever legendary. Mother Metal 💀 🖤

@@fredhankins7672 yes....oh yes..... someone who agrees with me. I've been arguing with some fuckhead that buckethead is a better guitarist than john 5. Not saying he is bad, he's great but buckethead is otherworldly. He has bluegrass albums, jazz albums, blues albums, metal, soft prog, prog metal etc. There is nothing he hasn't at least covered once in his like what.....300 albums.....also who else can say they put out around 300 albums.....and 85% of them were fucking great.

Every artist is unique. I cannot pick out any favorite. Artists should never be compared. Each one has a vision all to their own. So unique individually. I have many guitarists to mention. Scotti Hill darn good blues player and rocker. Ace Frehley's music rocks. And don't forget those in the past who influenced the next generations. May Rock never die 😎🔥🎶. Mother Metal 💀🖤

My Dad and uncle Scott were avid concert goers, and said they went to see Alice Cooper in Detroit back in the 70s...well before the advent of the internet. They hadn't heard much of anything in regards to KISS before the show and were salty that there was an opening act. They said KISS came out and completely melted their faces off in the front row. Love hearing those guys reliving those moments. The way they were talking...they were RIGHT BACK THERE AGAIN. That's the power of a live show. They took years away from shows as they had kids and responsibilities, but, we're taking them to shows with us now.

Good Advice here👍🏻 The best practice isn’t at rehearsal, it’s ultimately on stage. There’s no do overs live. It’s make you and your group tight. Those little quirks in our personality, those queues with the nod of your head, etc. It teaches you what NOT to do as well, or should I say, what you can get away with😄 Fantastic interview👍🏻

I also had a great teacher, and a friend in my neighbor, Gary. I could work on a riff all week, and play it for him, and he say that I sounded really good, but I think it goes like this, and he'd play it perfect. His group started moving up, and I had a 1960 Oldsmobile station wagon, and we could put his equipment in it, and go set up, and we'd have room to sleep in it too. He made a name for himself, and once they got the singer that fit, they took off. I saw him a few times, and he was always the same Gary, but he was drinking a lot. For my wedding that didn't happen, (I got left standing, but it was a hell of a party), he drank almost a case of champagne. Sadly his drinking made him less aware, and (IMHO) the singer (Who had to be in every camera shot) began to take over. It was the first group that didn't show the lead guitar while the lead guitar was playing in videos. Gary was kicked out of the group he started, and it was reported because of his addiction to alcohol. I went and saw him, in Golden Co, near where I was working at the time, and he said he was "fine". I gave him my number, and begged him to call me. He never did, and I never saw him again. RIP Gary Richrath, you were the best. I wish I had been a better friend to you. I still say to this day that you can't have REO without Gary Richrath. PS. John 5, I wish I was as good as your pinkie.....

as a bar musician I loved when John said he only uses a distortion and a wah. I played with another guy and he was a pedal freak. but every show something would go wrong and it took him 10 mins to figure out what pedal was causing the problem. I just used a distortion, period. it was on or off. I never needed anything else. always sounded clean and never stopped the show.
