Every time I rewatch this astounding series I always say the same thing: this is the absolute closest we will come to what it really was like.
@IronMan-tk8uc3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Tom Hanks and David McCullough really tried to capture the spirit of what it was like to live in those wretched times (legal slavery, poor medicine, no telephone). The sense of dread is real when you watch this series because it is this very feeling that makes anyone watching it feel the hardships of the era to break away from the superpower of the time, Great Britain and start a new nation from the scratch!

As applicable in 2020 as it was then. There is much to be gained by watching the John Adams mini series with fresh, modern eyes. Another great irony to me is the fact that the first casualty of the American Revolution was a black man. Black Americans have been giving their lives for this country - just like anyone else - since its literal beginning. I’m not sure John Adams would even survive these times unscathed either...

Many eyewitnesses actually commented on the discipline of the redcoats and the bravery of the young sentry who was assaulted nearly to death. It was this bravery that carried the British soldiers to victory in most battles of the war. They were excellent soldiers.
