I never thought I'd hear John's voice. Well, that there's a welcome dimension.

Still a stunning layout after all these years! Hard to comprehend how much he modeled in a given space. I have the book and still thumb through it on occasion. It never disappoints!

Thanks John Allen! That was a lot of great advice. You appear to be very knowledgeable on the subject. I would love to see your layout in person one day. You are a master modeler!

Unfortunately John Allen died more than a half century ago, and his layout was destroyed shortly thereafter in a fire at his Monterey home. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Whitby_Allen

@@neilblumberg3341 I know. I am paying my respects to the man who started the entire industry. His innovations are still staples of train layouts the world over. Part of his layout, though burned and with the smell of smoke, are at Kalmbach publishing's mains office with a few of the partially melted engines. Maybe I will get a chance to see them in person one day. I wish I could have met him. He seemed like a great guy from what I have read of him.
