Led Zeppelin was at best an expensive cover band. Most of their material was from already recorded music. Therefore the musicians didn't have to come up with chord progressions or rhythms or grooves, they were already written. They could spend most of their time in the studio coming up with a more intricate way to play someone else's ideas. RUSH created all their music and almost all of the lyrics in their canon was written by Neil Peart. Who then had to come up with the drum parts and rhythms. And don't forget that a lot of their songs were in odd polyrhythmic time signatures. None of this was even hinted at in your discussion.

John Bonham's feel is what's totally overlooked. There's so many nuances just the way he plays eighth notes on the hi hat... And then the 16th note kind of lope filling in between those aids with ghost notes on a snare drum almost as if there's 16th notes are swung. And where he puts the back beat... His feel is not typical of rock drummers... Seriously God bless neil. He was such a huge inspiration is really brought an orchestral and very exciting spotlight do the drum set, totally innovated.... Absolutely identifiable... But it's not at all even fair to put them in the Category regarding feel, pocket and groove

I don't think John or Neil would make such assertions. Would John have studied the art of drumming as Neil did? Would he have adopted new technologies of the time as Neil did? We'll never know. I enjoy both for different reasons.

15 min solo on anything would get boring. 3 min is really the max imo after that youre being obnoxious.

My favorite band of all time is Rush, but Bonzo is the GOAT. Some 🤡 is going to reply that Peart played more technical parts, or played more odd time signatures, or was a better composer… I. Don’t. Care. NO ONE before or since has Bonham’s feel or groove. Just listen to the opening track on Led Zeppelin I. What was he like 20 when he came up with that part? Ridiculous.
