Damn, seems like the kind of guy that directly helps make a better product because he actually cares. Not easily replaced.

To me, this feels like the last piece from old Oculus has just left the board, and it is kinda sad.
@Drstrange30002 жыл бұрын
The sad part is you can't easily replace his kind of talent and expertise. I have a lot less faith in Meta without him there. I love the Meta Quest 2, but going forward I don't think I will buy into their next product. Meta Quest Pro didn't entirely spark confidence either.

I get the impression that he wanted something like a Steve Jobs figure in the organization: Somebody who says "No" to good ideas, in order to focus on a few really great ones.

Dont think it would collapse. More like a correction. Then again every company are correcting/resetting right now. The economy is too. Its going to be bloody (financially). Meta, omniverse plus blockchain = gold
@DigitalBe4r2 жыл бұрын
@@simpl3lang that's funny. A lot of people didn't think there would be a collapse back in 2008, or in 1929, or with the tulip mania all the way back in 1637. And yet...
@DigitalBe4r2 жыл бұрын
@@simpl3lang and "meta + omniverse + blockchain" sounds more like dystopian nightmare to me rather than gold, but I think it's a matter of perspective, really. And your resilience to scam and economical extreme unstability too. And if you have crippling gambling addiction or not, that can be relevent too.

Meta is over now we just need someone with common sense to pick up the torch.

Its never a good sign if literal rocket scientist and game-engine genius John Carmack leaves a project. Especially if its because No-one Would Listen To Him.

If carmack walked out, meta dont have things under control, and thats very sad. Its reassuring to hear that he thiks the quest 2 is about what he wanted to make.

Very good! Carmack saw his reputation and his LEGEND in the 3D/FPS video-game world being torn to pieces by Zuck's Meta horseshit! 💩🧻🚽 Good riddance. ➡️🚪🖐️ Now comes the beginning of the end of Facebook/Meta. Bravo, John! 👍

@@Nomadic7z I think you are right. Also they (id and Bethesda) treated Mick Gordon like dogshit. The funny thing is that one of the reasons Carmack left was because he was not allowed to work on VR and now years laters Bethesda released their own Doom 3 VR Playstation version. Idiots.

Dude Idk if I can keep my headset now, I've always wanted a Valve Index despite its price and being PCVR only and the pico is good but the new 4 is only available in the Eastern world. Meta is dying and I can't continue on with the game we know and love if the headset dies.

I personally do not like what Meta is doing. I had to return a PC game a while back because I couldn't even download and install it. Cloned my system to a faster hard drive and now the Oculus software keeps asking where I want it to install the games library which is already installed. I realize that's their security, but it's a problem and it fits a pattern of obsessive detrimental behavior. I think that without John things will only get worse there.
