Turns 10 today!!! way, way better than I thought! It’s a shame though it bombed at the box office, the marketing campaign should’ve done better this movie is another good example of blockbuster: action, special efffects, good actors the pacing might be off for a lot of people but I was really happy to take the time to be immersed and believe in this universe Taylor Kitsch makes for a good action hero as the title role, Lynn Collins amazingly projects as a female warrior princess/scientist and is quite alluring, the Tharks are believable alien natives especially Willem Dafoe as Tars Tarkas and the planet Mars has so much scope there's a ton of information to take in but if you can overlook the convoluted script then no problem some of the character development is questionable, too making you wonder who you should be sympathizing with but for me it didn't get in the way the other interesting thing is that this movie definitely goes back to all the grand, epic spectacle motion pictures with princesses, aliens, giant monsters, powers and other worlds I was worried Andrew Stanton of PIXAR-fame would lose his touch but he manages to succeed with his modern storytelling and sheer vision no matter what world you live in war is inevitable and heroism is never a lost cause

Oh please, if they had only had the film take place on Earth, these guys would’ve ended up saying that THAT was cliche and done before too. They can NEVER not get bored and it pisses me off.

This story on Earth is called Superman...

To be fair, they like several films that have admittedly predictable stories, it's not a matter of what, it's a matter of how. A cliche film can still be good if it's done well.
