This guy's truly one of The most underrated actors of all time. I can't believe he's 91 and not a household name to this day.

Just saw Mr. Cullum in the indie film "Christina" and looked him up. I still remember seeing him in "On The Twentieth Century" on January 6, 1979. Yes, I remember the date. I loved that show and learned all the lyrics. Wonderful to hear him sing this number again.

He was superb tonight 06/04/18 at Town Hall (NYC) in the Irish Rep Alan Jay Lerner centennial gala. Age 88! And still charming and engaging. A wonderful show. Thank you, John!

WHY HE WON THE TONY FOR BEST ACTOR in a MUSICAL.......Saw show with Mr. Cullum and Madeline and their chemistry palpable and sublimely hysterical
@swarzeoz25505 жыл бұрын
I saw this show back in 1978, and Cullum and Kahn were fantastic. BUT Kevin Kline almost stole the show. That was the VERY first time I ever saw Kevin Kline, he also won the Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for that show.

Noting (as many before me) that the orchestra conductor never learned it's the job of the accompanist(s) to follow the soloist!!! He did not follow the tempo John set on any song nor even read the score of “On a Clear Day...” to see that the last "ever and ever and ever and evermore" is 4 , a repeat of 3 not 2 “evers”. What an inexcusable shame!
@stevepotfora74612 жыл бұрын
The conductor, Paul Gemignani, is constantly looking over his shoulder to be sure he is following. The first two notes of On a Clear Day have fermatas over them , one would never sing the entire song at that tempo.btw-Paul is the original conductor on all of Stephen Sondheim's shows for the last forty years and is the most respected conductor on Broadway. Chances are good, since the entire orchestra played the ending of Clear Day together, that Mr. McCollum forgot the number of repeats for the ending. The orchestra played what was printed in the music .

Gemignani was also the original musical director of ON THE 20TH CENTURY for john Cullum
