@artvandelay80903 жыл бұрын
@@vildachaya6462 You just said a key word, "RESPONSIBLE." "Freedom" is another important word. A free society is the best society to have, BUT, freedom should be exercised with RESPONSIBILITY. When you have a free society, a meritocracy, and capitalism, in order for it to work the best for society, it must be tempered with MORAL AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. When capitalism goes to the extreme as it has in this country, then the rich and the powerful become too rich and powerful and this results and freedoms being taken away from the middle and poorer classes. And just because someone says that we need to ensure people's basic rights afforded to us by the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution to life (which goes hand-in-hand with health care), liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that does not make it socialism. It's still a capitalist free society, and a democracy, it's just a practiced with moral and social responsibility. The problem in this country right now is that the rich have become TOO powerful. It's turned into a plutocratic oligarchy. The rich hold all of the cards. The poorer and middle class have no power whatsoever and for them in effect, this country is a dictatorship. The rich, who influence the politicians are the ones making all of the decisions. There's too much corruption in government, businesses, the entire health care system and this country is headed for real trouble as a result. Mark my words, this country will fall. United we stand, divided we fall, and this country hasn't been this divided in a long long time. And you know what they say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Thus, this country is bigger than it ever was, which means it will fall harder than it ever has. I don't see anything that will prevent it. Not even a pandemic has curbed the greed in this country. So the greed, the out-of-control capitalism will cause this country to fall. And it won't be too long before that happens.

I've saved $3000 on car insurance last year , ive spent thousands on alcohol , drugs , food , clothes , etc. Gambling IS brutal. But its really all in perspective , if I wanna blow a few hundred on blackjack , then thats MY choice. Buying $23 cocktails and $1400 Gucci shirts is almost just as much of a scam as sitting down at the tables. Your tax returns will not show gambling losses, it will show losses EQUAL to your winnings. Period. So, if you show $55M in losses, they have to equal $55M in winnings, leaving a wash. No deductions and no taxes owed on the winnings. I'm a CPA.
@chicchacchula4 жыл бұрын
Lawrence Taylor You’re right. But based on the way we have to report slot wins/losses on our taxes, if I look back at my tax returns from years ago and just look at the gambling losses reported for tax purposes (which is what Daly seemed to do here)....then the losses number will be inflated and will be way more than the amount of my own money that I actually lost. Say I walk into a casino with $5000 and go to the high limit slots. I start playing, lose most of my money, then before I run out of money I hit a “jackpot” for $1200. As you know, any win of that amount or higher on a slot generates a W2G form. After that “jackpot” I am still down overall, and have less than the $5000 I started with. I play some more, get close to being out of money, then hit again for $2000. I do this over and over again, then eventually run out of money and leave. But along the way I get a bunch of W2G forms. Each one is for somewhere from $1200 to $3000. In total those W2Gs add up to $25,000. So how much did I lose? $5000, because I walked in with $5000 and walked out with zero. What does my tax return show? It shows $25,000 in gambling wins and $25,000 in gambling losses. So if years later I use my tax returns to figure out how much I lost and I look at that $25,000 in losses reported and say that I lost that much gambling....it’s inaccurate. I lost $5000, not anywhere near $25,000. It seems that Daly just added up what he reported in “gambling losses” on his tax returns over the years, which inflates the number considerably. He likely didn’t lose $55 million of his own money.

4% interest on $55,000,000 is $2,200,000 a year. Divide that by 365 days a year and you get $6,027 a day. Divide that by 24 hours in a day and you get $251 an hour. He could have invested his $55,000,000 and literally gambled 24 hours a day 7 days a week until he dropped dead and never touched his original 55 million. Granted he would only be able to wager $251 an hour but any adidicted gambler will tell you it doesn't matter if they have $1,000 or $100 they're still going to gamble regardless. Also, some days he obviously wouldn't gamble so that money would add up for your next trip. It boggles my head why people win so much money and never invest any of it. If I was going to be rich and gamble with my mobey I would at least be smart enough to invest and only gamble with the interest. This is how i would do it.

I literally just noticed after watching a few of these segments of this interview that he’s wearing a suit with the American Flag. I literally thought he had an American flag draped over his shoulders.
