John Daly rips a 344-yard drive down the middle of the fairway, smacks the pin on his wedge approach, then drains the 4 footer for birdie to kick off the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Perfect birdie.

And the original poster is spot-on! Seems we've lost all our true characters. The ones that make Sports and television entertaining to watch... John Daly is a classic example. You could include the basketball version of him, Dennis Rodman perhaps? Manny Ramirez was a very good one from the mlb. Mike Tyson perhaps? Or even the once in a lifetime icons like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan seem to be further and fewer between. Maybe because everyone is so good these days? I should have done my research before writing this comment so everyone feel free to add the dozens of people I forgot. You could also mention the classic sports commentators who are all but extinct these days... I just think about people like Larry Munson voice of the Georgia Bulldogs and all the crazy things he used to say when he got excited about a Dawg's touchdown "We just crushed them! We stepped on their face with a *hobnail* *boot* . I jumped out of my chair. I think i just broke my chair....a metal steel chair!" "There's gonna be some property destroyed tonight!" Georgia fans will know those infamous calls and get chills reading them. Or Vin Scully legendary voice of the Dodgers. Tons and tons of other good color broadcasters. We've really lost almost all....Perhaps "political correctness" is somewhat to blame? Johnny Miller is still there for the SF Giants at least.. But maybe, just maybe the next Generation has another Al Michaels Chris Berman or Brent Musburger for us?
