What has happened to professional boxing is the same thing that has happened to basketball...it’s money driven. I can’t knock a grown man getting his, but the more you are given the lazier you become. It’s easier to sleep on a full stomach.

Quality over Quantity: Example Loma and Tank's first 14 opponents (see below). Crawford and Floyd followed the same pattern as Tank. Loma was winning 2 gold medals while these guys were amassing this long list of fights. Tank was fighting once a year for awhile there while Loma was amassing 396 amateur fights, with the best amateur record in the history of the sport, honing his craft. And he hit the pros with the best first 14 fight opponent resume, in the history of boxing. The best quality opponent records in the history of boxing for the first 14 fights. 9 of them world champions and he has 3 world title belts in three divisions fastest in history. John David Jackson is dissing tricks in training. He has a good point with fighters like Tank and Teo not taking the time to learn the fundamentals and wanting to rely on the big one time punch. Teo got exposed with that against Nakatani and might even quit boxing now after being exposed. But to call out tricks, he might as well right out call out Loma's dad, rather than pussy foot around in the passive aggressive way he did. What's one man's tricks is another man's staple training. It's called muscle memory and switching it up to get the body to make even higher jumps in reactivity and ability. It's called entropy. Same technique is used with the mind with Holoysync technology. Overburdening the mind until it adjusts and comes up to a higher, more capable level. The hitting the tennis ball, or holding breath under water, or mental training when depleted from oxygen with math problems all is to round out the ability of Loma to react in any situation. But first before all the that, since Loma was four, Loma's dad as a trainer, has taught Loma more about the fundamentals of boxing than 99% of the trainers out there. Results speak for themselves. Jackson said Loma's fighting style is amateur. Now that's pure non-clarity and underlying stodgy stuck in time mentality. Jackson has a beef with Kovalev. Don't diss Loma out of spite because Kovalev and Loma have the same manager. It's not amateur when he's the best of the Pros. It's a pro fighting style. He's in the pros killing it with it. He's in the pros changing the game in front of our eyes. It's revolutionizing the Pros and is a Pro winning style. He's winning in the Pros with it and in the midst of it confounding his opponents with it. Just because it's something nobody has employed before doesn't mean it's not a Pro fighting style. I have a real beef with Jackson on this point. Compare fighters in the 1920s to the fighting style in the 1960s and you could see a huge difference in styles. Today Loma and his father are changing the game. Usyk unified for the first time ever at cruiserweight to unify all four world titles, using that training. That alone speaks volumes. Nobody can figure out Loma and top fighters quit in exasperation. The guys who are revered as the best fighters are quitting so is it the chicken or the egg. They must not be that good and Loma has fought nobodies. Or Loma is on another level and great fighters look like amateurs when they get in the ring with him. It's the later because the records of these guys is the best first 14 fight opponent resume in the history of boxing and he won three belts in three divisions in that time frame. He's confounding guys who are the best in the game. Guys that Crawford and Floyd and other top fighters only start facing in the later stages of their resumes. Yes, Floyd confounded some great fighters later on. But so is Loma up front. Quality over quantity with Loma. To not give him props for that and to say he's not all that and is over-hyped is based more on racism than true evaluation. Two gold medals and best amateur record in history and best first 14 fight opponent resume speak for themselves. You can't make up the facts of the records and the quality of who he fought. Gary Russel, 24 and 0 when he fought Loma has continued to shine and dominate after his loss to Loma, making what Loma did in his third fight stand out even more. Russel is a true star fighter who lost to a fighter who is another star fighter. Might as well call Floyd's method amateur because it was new and no one could figure it out, to break it down and beat it. No one saw anything like it before Floyd. No one has seen anything like Loma before and his style cannot be pinned down and figured out. You can say he's a little bit of the best of the best fighters in history, a little bit of Sweet Pea, a little bit of Roy Jones, a little bit of Pacman. He has so much in his arsenal. He's well balance offensively and defensively. You can't say he usually always goes with the left upper cut after he hooks with the right. You can't find a pattern to break down and strategize against. He's completely unpredictable and has more arsenal up his sleeves perfected than most fighters even tried or heard of. Fighters like Tank and Teo rely on the big punch. What happened to Teo when he fought Nakatani. He was a deer in headlights when the heavy punches were grazing off Nakatani with little effect. He didn't know what to do. He was exposed. Tank, well who has Tank fought that has challenged him to get past the big punch. Tank hasn't faced a Loma type fighter. That would be a great fight to see. If Loma can avoid Tank's heavy hit. What's Tank got left in his arsenal? Loma has a full stock room of arsenal to deploy. It took Tank 7 rounds to get the TKO against Pedrazza. And Pedrazza was dead on his feet coming down in weight on short notice for the fight. He just stayed in there and slugged it out with Tank in tight quarters. You think Tank would get 10% of that opportunity with Loma? Tank's got more stopping power than Loma, but if that's all there is... That's the type of fighter Jackson is really talking about. The guys who want the big knock out and don't have the arsenal perfected in their bag if the knockout punch is muted or countered. Loma and Tank's opponents first 14 fights. Crawford and Floyd have longer records but they followed the same pattern as Tank. Really, go look it up. Loma was winning 2 gold medals while they were padding those records. 1st fight is at the top of the list. opponent 25 03 | 00 04 opponent 41 12 | 00 00 opponent 24 00 | 00 00 opponent 51 01 | 04 07 opponent 25 02 | 01 01 opponent 25 04 | 02 08 opponent 29 02 | 03 09 opponent 26 00 | 00 00 opponent 20 01 | 47 31 opponent 25 02 | 04 04 opponent 17 00 | 05 03 opponent 44 03 | 08 01 opponent 25 01 | 40 18

JDJ loves the two Americans Crawford and Spence, meanwhile the best foreign boxer of the generation is overrated to him. And he also hates on another foreign boxer, Kovalev, he used to train, and even fed secrets to his rival before the biggest fight of his career when he was still employed as Kovalev's trainer for that very fight. Makes you wonder who the real biased one was all along, Kovalev, or John David Jackson. And Lomachenko has a higher KO% in the pros than Crawford, so to say Lomachenko is overrated because he fights like an amateur in my opinion proves how biased and divorced from reality JDJ's opinion about Lomachenko is. It also makes me wonder if JDJ understands tactics. Maybe if he had a better understanding of tactics, Kovalev would have done better under him, maybe even listened to him more. Lomachenko's style of using "amateur" distance control and pity pat shots vs opponents early to get them to tire out later has been extremely effective in not just winning him rounds, but getting him stoppage wins. JDJ seems to have no understanding of that at all even though it should be obvious for a trainer. Makes me wonder about how much help if any he was to Kovalev even before he went Benedict Arnold on him.

He was right about how Spence carried the Mikey Garcia fight. Mikey had no business in that ring @147!!! Go back and really look at that fight. If Spence corner would’ve told him to go for the KO, Mikey would’ve been another #mandown But I do believe Spence vs Crawford will happen Summer 2020!! I also agree that boxers should be fighting at least 3x a year.

Boxers who are titleholders fight need to fight each other to see whos the true champ is. And defend the belt at least. 3 times a year. The more money they get the more they hide behind their promotion company cherry picking fights which its lame as hell! Crawford is a beast, but Top Rank dont have nobody in their stable to fuck with him and Al Heyman has the fighters who can compete with him but that bullshit politics etc which makes boxing look bad. If Spence beats Porter for unification, who's his next opponent? Crawford would be obvious but dont expect it!

Jackson bemoans the lack of teaching that trainers today offer, totally ignoring how Loma's father, affectionately called "Papachenko," is revolutionizing boxing training. Fighters would love to work with him, but his primary focus remains his son, with family friends, Usyk and Gvozdyk, not far behind. There are a lot of old boxers who call themselves "trainers." Few of them provide much in the way of novel instruction.

Did you peep how all the fighters he thinks are for real, either at the top right now or even prospects, are basically all Americans like himself, while all the ones he thinks are overrated are foreign boxers from the same area that Kovalev is from, or Kovalev himself. JDJ acts like he's above the bullshit but he seems just as biased as a lot of people maybe more than some. Can't even use the word "great" to describe Lomachenko, just "he's good" or "very good." Shit is crazy. He is fantastic. I think he's on the slide now and really slowing down at 135 with all that extra muscle on his frame, but at 126 and 130 he was next level, you can't even compare Spence to that level that Lomachenko showed at 130 especially but JDJ acts like he really aint shit. Disappointing to see.
