Unfortunately this project stayed out waiting for seals… which I’ve had for a while now but as normal I moved on. It is my plan to come back and finish this up in the next few months.

I'm trying to find the updated cross brace for my 1984 430. I bought the shoulder bolt from John Deere already.

I believe you can get away with only putting the one bolt in the original brace It does pretty much the same thing. In the technical manual John Deere recommends only putting in one of the two bolts

I will have to see if I have both styles already removed from a machine and do a video or get some pictures. As ND 322 indicated, you should be able to use the current one but do not add the second bolt.

When you full the trans axel how far up the line do you full it and what fluid do you use in it thanks

If you have the sight glass holder the fluid should be in the middle of the sight glass. I am a fan of using Low Viscosity Hygard from Deere. You can also use regular Hygard and ATF Type F. You will need approximately 2 gallons if you are changing the fluid.

@@mmrbeef ya mine don't have that just black hose so I saw where your sight glass was I'll get clear house and try to get to same point and thank you for getting back to me on that. So I'm new to this 430 wanted one sentence I was little when you have it going forward or revers is it normal for it to squeal a little

Hey I have a John Deere 317 garden tractor and if you lift the rear, the left tire wobbles some in the hub area. What do I need to replace to fix it? Is it the same axle as a 318?

Probably something that you will need to take apart the axle to see what the issue might be. It could be a number of factors. The axle could be worn but the hub could be loose etc.
