If you have an extra starter tap, just cut off the first 3-4 threads & then gently turn the bottom of the tap against a grinding wheel counter clock wise at a 30 degree angle & you now have a bottoming tap. Great video as usual!

You aren't the only one Kyle, I, too, am amazed at the lack of wear I see when I tear these units down from time to time. And to top it off, many of the units I see probably didn't have anything that resembled a good regular maintenance program. I'm hitting these videos again as I'm gonna be tearing one apart to do some repairs on the charge pump and while I'm at it, "renew" some other parts and switch out a 2 speed tranny from a 1990 420 to a 1988 322. Thanks again for the info.

Great video series. The left axel won't spin on my 91 420. And advice to look for before taking apart?

If just one axle will not turn, chances are the differential or the axle shaft is broken. My money would be on the axle shaft.

Great video, my 89 318 case leaks having difficulty finding gasket is gasket required or can silicone do? Internal clearances be an issue?

I've got a 1988 420 that doesn't go into high gear very easy , goes into low without any trouble. Is that an easy fix ?

Curious if you’d know why my 322 (with early 420 two speed axle am+ diff lock) is able to go more than 10pm forward but less than 1mph in reverse when level is full stroke? Not sure if it deals with the linkage (version 3or4?) nearest the transaxle? Any insight would be appreciated!

That's interesting. I've always wondered if I was to do a 420 swap into my 318 if I could put the 318 axles into the 420 transaxle to keep the width the same

I’m thinking of trading my 322 in for a 420 with a John Deere loader, my 322 has a 54 blade and a 50 deck, is that a smart trade?

On the surface it seems like an OK trade but giving up a liquid cooled engine for an air cooled would be hard to do for me. As much as I love Onan’s it’s tough to not like the Yanmars.
