I have a p224 Onan engine that shuts off after running for about 30 minutes when first start. Then, we have to let it cool down to get it running again but will only run for about 15-20 minutes. (Note: I have changed flywheel, stator, module, coil, battery cables and still having the same issue) Also, started seems to get hot (had one starter rebuilt and replaced with another starter just to check if starter was the issue. Still trying to figure out what may be wrong?

@mmrbeef20 күн бұрын
Yes, slowing down and using a drag or some other type of attachment to loosen the hard pack a little would also work well. They are fairly easy to adapt to the 4-5 series and there have been a number adapted to work on 420 and 430 units. Kinda cool seeing those

If those are original Hydra-Lectric cylinders on the fenders. You’ve struck gold - especially if the circuitry is in good shape. Seems like a real nice rig to start for a project.
@mmrbeef26 күн бұрын
Those are the original cylinders (as far as I can tell) but nothing on the hydraulics work. All the wires are there but no idea if the electrics work or not. This spring I would like to fix the tire issues and put the engine under a load in some capacity.

@danherrmann8755Ай бұрын
My Dad had same problem. Disconnect the battery when done. The switch still makes connection in off position. And drains battery. To check. Take voltage meter. Set to read 12 volts dc. Touch red lead to battery ,,black lead to Battery connection. Meter will show .01 or .02. Volt. With switch in off position . Switch is still making contact. Factory defect. No quality control.

@mosfet500Ай бұрын
What I find is people who don't understand electronics are afraid of it. You're talking about people being afraid of diesel but mechanical systems fail much more often than electronics. That's why we don't use VCR's anymore, they're mechanical! Electronics today is very robust and if you know how to fix and troubleshoot electronics it's not a problem. Also diesels have distribution pumps that can be well beyond most people's expertise. When a diesel fails it's usually much more expensive to fix. Millions of cars with sophisticated electronic fuel injection systems that don't fail very often. I have both, gas and diesel, in my garden tractors I prefer gas and my tractor I prefer diesel, not turbo diesel which I would never buy. Deere's Kawasaki engines are just as good as the Yanmar diesel engines. I have a 30 year old garden tractor with a Kawasaki that's still perfect. As far as stale gas, there are additives and frankly I rarely see stale gas, most times it's another problem, I do use high test without ethanol. I just had a garden tractor that sat for over a year, the owner thought the gas was bad, it wasn't there were other problems. If you have bad gas after a few months you're doing something wrong, go to high test and see if there's a difference.

I want to say that Oliver never made their own engines. I know Waukesha made a lot of engines for them and they may not have been the only supplier.

We got a brand new super88 in 57 or 58 and was amazed at the time how fast we could plow a field with a 3 bottom 14" plow,but back then that was really good for our budget lol
@Greg_GatsbyАй бұрын
We had an old Oliver Super 88 as a dealer loaner for a brief time as a kid. That was my first exposure to diesel power. I got a kick out of revving the engine to “roll coal”, much to my dad’s chagrin. 😂

Nothing wrong with a different shade of green in the collection! I have the 88 gas my grandpa farmed with, it runs and drives good but definitely needs work as well, nothing that time and money can’t fix! 😅

@mmrbeefАй бұрын
Long over due. I can’t wait to see what previous owners have shoved in there to slow it down. It’s certainly a project I am dreading. Lots of heavy stuff to take off, move, and keep track of!
@OMFGTrexKyleАй бұрын
Do you need to greese the seal
@wemedeeres4105Ай бұрын
The two main reasons for the different arm sizes were ease of getting on and off the tractor, those standards aren’t the easiest to climb on in the first place unless you have front step option and climb up over the flywheel. The standards generally sat lower in the rear than a row crop version so the “swing” so to say of the arm when it traveled didn’t need to be as large of a radius. Good find on those arms as 3 point on a standard is indeed on the rare side!
@mmrbeefАй бұрын
I can certainly see that for the reason. Compared to the 730 row crop, you have to contort yourself a little to get onto the 720. With the three point on, it will be considerably worse.
@wemedeeres4105Ай бұрын
@ something else I should mention, check the hitch on your 720 standard it may not have the mounting holes for the elephant ears to attach to. A simple fix just get the A frame off a row crop tractor and you’ll be fine, it’s just something you don’t want to run into when you’re geared up to get everything mounted up.

Can’t wait to use mine I went with the 84 inch blower but I have the 4075R and I’m just dying to use it so watching these videos instead lol
@mmrbeefАй бұрын
They are nice. I think the 84” would be matched well to the 4075. After 5+ winters I’d say the 74 is a good match for the 4066. In heavy snow the 74” blower loads up the 4066 just fine.
@jessehagenbeck2624Ай бұрын
@ I hope so I did a lot of research before deciding on what blower to get
@MichaelTJD60Ай бұрын
Nice additions to the collection. Don't feel bad about moving up to the bigger tractors...I would argue there's more satisfaction in working on the bigger antique tractors than garden tractors. I'm down to just 2 GT's at this point, plus my 755 which does all the heavy lifting. Interesting wheel equipment on that B - if the 42" rears are original, I'd bet it came from the west coast or the Idaho potato-growing region. Those original Goodyear tires on it don't look terrible either...wouldn't mind having a spare set to keep around for my 520.
@mmrbeefАй бұрын
There is a lot of satisfaction on the bigger stuff. I really enjoy working on my 730 and 720. Grants sometimes as I’m hanging on wrenches in mid air I am reminded how much bigger they are! This B is the smallest two cylinder I’ve had to date. It’s nice being able to handle the parts without an engine hoist or tractor. There was some carnage in the engine that will be in a later video. The tires look better on video than in person. Hopefully this little B will be in parts shortly after the first.

I’ve bought a lot of stuff being the only bidder other than the scrap man. If they aren’t economically repairable they can at least be used for parts. Always makes me sad to see a whole machine in a scrap yard.
