John Deere 332 Electrical Problems

Chasing melted wires and a bad ground somewhere. Battery low voltage light comes on when not in neutral with lights off....goes away with lights on.

Got a 332 from my dad and having several issues as well. My battery drains pretty quickly, it has happened while mowing a couple of times. Need to get the voltmeter out and start working through it. Saw your beer stickers in the back, i'm in Fburg.

I think your list of 18 faults is very small. My John Deere #332 is 35 years old (first model year I think), ridden hard many times and put away wet. My health, and therefor income began to shrink about 30 years ago. I plead poverty as my reasons for having let my tractor get into such serious deficiency. If I can get the charging problem fixed and finish out the season, I hope to give my beautiful wonderful tractor a spa day / week or month. I envy your self-confidence that allows you to so strongly criticize folks like me.

The purpose of this video was not to offend anyone. I just needed a place to document chasing down a few electrical problems that I was having, hoping that others would find it and have a good place to start their troubleshooting journey. I apologize for hurting your feelings, again that was not my intention. Since it’s obvious that you do value my opinion, If your spend more time trying to better yourself then you will be to busy to be concerned with the opinions of others.

@@GenesisBarberDon You are absolutely correct. I did learn a lot from you, and bettered myself thereby. I apologize for being sharp with you. Since I was at fault, may I call off the war of words. I have more things to learn, even 18 or more, from you. Today's new thing is the 332 blew off the radiator cap with the loss of quite a bit of coolant. I refilled with clear water and she heated up again quite soon. I have to solve this one before the next grass cutting. Thanks again!

@@irwinjudson4156 Yeah that’s fair. Sounds like a stick thermostat to me. I don’t have the book in front of me right now but I think those yanmars are pretty particular about the type of coolant used.

Man,I’ll just out with it - you must have some pile of money to keep your equipment gripe free. I would have as many gripes on my 1986 332 (Yanmar engine). I’m intelligent but no mechanical training. My local John Deere dealer’s charges are exorbitant and quality is not good, si I use google and some brain cells to jerry-rig.

I’m not rich and nothing I own is “gripe free”. The guy I bought it from told me he was mowing with it and it cut off. He wouldn’t say what was wrong with it kind of figure it out kinda thing. The more things I found wrong the more he was like “oh yeah that broke I never fixed it”. So I’ll admit I had a little frustration during the process. But I had fun and learned. A lot once it was mechanically sound. Again I’m not rich but little things like running your 332 with an under powered battery…etc. these machines are fantastic just have to pay attention to what you are doing sometimes.

What brand and size tires you running on the rear?

Looks like Versa Turfs, they come in 26x12x12 and 24x12x12.
